'What a Wonderful World This Will Be'- By George W. Bush

There is nothing resembling a debate here. This isn’t the partisan nose-thumbing forum, nor is it the forum to share email forwards you get. I suppose I could comment on the acuracy of many of the claims in the song (off the top of my head, wasn’t Gore a solid C student as well?), but I’ve figured out by now that the OP has no interest in hearing opposing points of view, but rather masquerade derision as a debate.

Also, I’d like to add that the damn “high fives” are getting prettty annoying. It’s not exactly like Gore supports are some sort of embattled minority here. Or rather that agreeing that Bush is an idiot is the sort of thing that really needs to be congratulated.

Go figure.

I think you are right. For the reasons you mention, but also I look at it this way: no party holds the White house forever. The pendulum has to swing in the opposite direction at least occasionally. Better it should be Dubya under these circumstances that someone really smart and slick with a clean win.

The fact is, if you take Al’s votes and Naders votes together, more Americans are to the left than right. Dubya won’t do much except be deeply annoying for the next couple of years, then we can take back Congress and in 4 the White House.

I’ve known for awhile now that in the big picture we are better off with this result, but the gross injustice of it all has kept me from embracing the big picture wholeheartedly.
By the way: <High Five>

stoid

Funny, where were all the people deriding Stoidela when the parody of Mr. Gore (set to the well-known tune about the fiddling contest between the devil and a good ol’ boy) was posted? One might have asserted ‘sore winner’?
I thought it was funny, though I suspect it isn’t quite as original as the other.

Not only do you have very strange ideas about the media’s willingness to ignore a very important story for the sake of a party they really haven’t showed much allegiance to, you have a rather strange reaction to those ideas. What exactly does it mean to shutter, anyway?

DKW:
I agree. By nominating Gore, the Democrats basically attempted to ransom the country, demanding that it allow them to choose whoever they wanted as president, or face the “horror” of a Bush presidency. If Gore had won, it would have shown the Democrats that they can nominate absolutely anyone they want and still win.

I don’t recall ever seeing such a thing. Perhaps you have a link? I might find it amusing, but as it’s probably as blindly partisan as this one, I would imagine that I’d simply skip it. Sure it’s all about fighting ignorance, but I figure others can adequately defend Mr. Gore from unfounded charges. Some battles are not for me to fight.

In other words, you have no problem with people ignoring you because you don’t have anything useful to say. Just as long as we’re clear on this.

Think I could get a link to that?

Linkety-link

Freedom:

 Well, yes, but it was (at the time) just general snideness. I just wanted to avoid any specific snideness.

Stoidela:

Well, no. And no again. they’ve moved political debates here. Not threads that are based in fluffspam and designed as a medium of hatred to someone you’ve never met.

Let’s see . . .

  1. Titles do not always, or even often, convey the substanse of a thread.

  2. Who are you? I’ve avoided most of the political threads in the past few months. Are you someone important? I guess you’re a rabid Bush-hater, but I don’t pay enough attention to know to avoid you because of that. I do now, thanks.

Do the words “sore winner” mean anything to you?

"The fact is, if you take Al’s votes and Naders votes together, more Americans are to the left than right. Dubya won’t do much except be deeply annoying for the next couple of years, then we can take back Congress and in 4 the White House. "

Stoidela, you are either so optimistic that you search every pile of shit for a pony or else you are a fuckin’ idiot.

Do you honestly think all those old people in Palm Beach voted for Gore because they support gay rights and the Kyoto Treaty? Hell, no, most of them voted for Gore to protect their Social Security and Medicaid benefits.

Go to the South and Midwest and you will find slews of Democrats who are just as conservative as the worst GOP mossbacks. In my own state of Indiana, we have Speaker of the House John Gregg, D.-Sandborn, who is pro-life; we have State Rep. Jerry “No Show” Denbo, D.-French Lick, who brags about being the most pro-NRA Democrat in the nation, and we have Gov. Frank “Mushmouth” Frank O’Bannon, who is trying to put a Ten Commandments monument on the statehouse lawn. If you came to many of the political gatherings I’ve attended in Indiaana and spouted your opinions, most of the Democrats would be as horrified and/or angry and/or amused as the Republicans.

People voted for Gore for a number of reasons, including a desire to maintain peaceful, prosperous times. Most of them do not want to transform this country into the United Socialist States of America.

Get a life, for Christ’s sake.

And I hope to Jesus, Mithra, Allah and Yog-Sothuth this country never sees the Democrats control both the Presidency and the White House again. The last time that happened we had double-digit inflation, high unemployment and the government spraying Paraquat on marijuana plants.

In fact I would rather vote a Communist for national office than a Democrat. The Communists are more honest about their economic policies and they are much better at fighting wars.

Ahhh… more civilized discourse from the right side… It’s just so impressive when you guys resort to personal attacks and name calling! My beliefs, attitudes, and philosophies are simply shattered every time someone calls me an idiot…or even more effectively, a c**t ! And of course, my respect for the opinions and arguments of people whose first line of of offense is the always devastating schoolyard taunt just goes right through the roof, as you might imagine.

Yep. And that is what completely baffles me about people who voted for Bush. What exactly is it about peaceful, prosperous times that you don’t like? Unless, of course, it’s because you personally hate Clinton and by association, Gore. But that couldn’t be it, could it?

Gee… that’s what they’ve been doing for the past 8 years. How do you propose they might be separated? :stuck_out_tongue:

No, it’s the partisian mud-slinging forum. At least according to David B. Anyhow, we’ve had song parodies about our esteemed potential presidents in GD before, as xenophon noted, so I don’t see how this is any different. It’s too hot and/or political for MPSIMS and IMHO and not vile enough for the Pit (at least as it stands, and any attempt to get it moved to the Pit will be severly frowned upon).

Nope, not here. Personal attacks belong in the Pit. BTW, Freedom2, I’d suggest that if you want to point out any of Stoid’s supposed personal hypocrisies at great length in multiple threads that you use the Pit for that purpose. I’d rather not see this forum interspersed with personal vendettas dragged in from other threads.

[Moderator Hat OFF]

Well, I thought it was funny.

C’mon, Free-live a little. It’s silly, it’s funny. Have a party hat!

I think the diffrence is stoids is alot less funnier than mine.

I would suggest not trying to argue with totally irrational beings though. No point in it.

Maybe people don’t consider good times as being something that occur because of the President. Maybe they consider the Republican Congress as much to blame, and want to extend the same line of thought to the Executive Branch. Maybe they consider that their good fortune is due in large part to their own effort, and want to be taxed less on the money they make.

I’m also thinking that if were to accept the theory that conservatives are selfish, then it would be the conservatives that vote for Gore. This didn’t happen, so apparently conservatives are so blinded by hatred that they sacrifice their all-important selfishness. I guess the liberals have a hegemony on principles, selflessness, and rational thought. Sorry guys.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you meant the Presidency and Congress. In which case, your recollection of '92 to '94 is rather different than mine.

Definite Yoda discrimination.

Boy, you Bushies seem to have no sense of humor! Lighten up and laugh a little bit! Just to make ya’ll feel better, here’s a link to something that pokes fun at Gore: http://www.theonion.com/

A friend at work who voted for Bush sent me the link. And, actually I thought it was kinda funny. I didn’t tell him he was a sore winner.

You Bushies have got to lighten up!

You didn’t think my Yoda joke was funny?
