Does anyone know if Vegas is taking odds on if Trump will ever finally realize how unpopular he actually is?
I mean, I know it’s a long shot, but betting on long shots is how you make the real money…I’d put $10 on million-to-one odds.
First, he’s not really unpopular. The people who don’t like him really don’t like him, but IIRC he’s got good polls with maybe 40% of the population?
And after figuring out how to define “really unpopular”, how do you figure out if Trump has realized it? “I’m ready for my close-up, Mr DeMille” is where he is likely to end up.
And yes, I realize that was a rhetorical question.
When you are extremely popular with a minority of people, that is what you call having cult status.
Amanda Marcotte at Salon has an article discussing her theory why Trump Social and other right-wing social media sites are doing so poorly. (I think her theory is largely based on some other essays on Politico and elsewhere that she cites.)
tl;dr: Right-wingers have essentially no objectives other than to annoy and “trigger” the libs. On their right-wing sites, there are no (or way to few) libs around to trigger. So it’s just boring right-wing echo chamber with nothing interesting happening. Right-wing influencers (like Dan Bongino, e.g.) try these sites, they quickly lose interest and leave. You can’t troll the libs there if there are no libs there to troll!
She points out that the Washington trucker convoy is flailing for the same reason: Their only purpose is to annoy the libs. But their complaints about masking and vaccine mandates aren’t hitting the mark, as there are no vaccine mandates and mask mandates are going away. So with no meaningful complaints, they aren’t able to irritate anybody.

My name, at first will be GoatTucker, in honor of Tucker the Goat Fucker. I did not want a name that is obviously anti-conservative because I have a plan. I intend to try to convince people that when they vote, they should write-in Trump for every Congressional seat in November 2022.
Because it will send a message and remind everyone who needs to be in charge. Maybe I will try to convince them that the Constitution says that if the same person is elected to more than twelve Congressional seats it will create joinder and Trump will be reinstated.
Or maybe it’s not the fake Constitution that everyone uses that says this, it’s the secret Constitution that the elites are suppressing. That one definitely says this! I wonder if Ginni Lamp Thomas has an account, she’ll believe anything —- her husband would probably vote to uphold it.
I haven’t quite worked out this theory, but it looks like I have time. I just hope I can get my Truth Social account before October.
As of now, it looks like the best way to silence a conservative is to give them a Truth Social account.

I’m currently workshopping my theories in some of the Trump Facebook groups.
I’d try r/conservative but I’m pretty sure I’d be kicked off in about 5 seconds, it’s pretty heavily moderated. Cancel culture, you know.
Heck, I probably couldn’t even get it by r/conspiracy. They think the Trumper conspiracies are making them look crazy, and they don’t like that. Seriously.

I suspect that Trump’s new social network will fail because being banned from Twitter etc is primarily Trump’s problem. Not his supporters’ problem. They aren’t banned - he is.
MAGAt’s can happily reside in walled gardens on facebook or reddit or wherever, if that’s what they want. What is going to drive them to make the effort of going to some new “side game” run by Trump when they can just stay where they are? Betting against inertia is seldom a good bet.
I suspect the number of fanatic supporters who would bother moving across from their happy home on facebook or wherever - just for the sake of being able to get more direct access to Trump’s pearl’s of wisdom - is relatively small.
