I like olive oil as an ingredient or a condiment, but it probably sucks as a beverage.
It pairs well with deep fried Crisco.
for what its worth, backpackers commonly carry and consume olive oil because it is packed with calories for the weight.

When we were kids nobody knew cholesterol existed. If we did, Mom would probably have fried up a bunch of it and served it with sausage gravy.
Same for maple syrup
Nothing happens. You get about 200 calories worth of fat, some of it is omega-3 which is good, and it will prevent hunger for an hour or two maybe.
That’s just for a glug. If it’s a slug then you’re starting to get into potential GI distress territory, and if it’s a chug then all bets are off.

Olive oil is a mug you don’t want to chug.
To say nothing of a jug, you’d end up lying on the rug.

A very small study looking at urine samples (not actual coronary artery imaging) is a mite unconvincing, as is a large observational study olive oil proponents trumpet, which was based on self-reporting and prone to confounders.
If you superimpose a “glug of olive oil” onto usual diets, it’s doubtful you’ll gain much except extra calories.
It’s a helluva drug.

Constipation. Taking olive oil by mouth can help soften stools in people with constipation. It is unclear if applying olive oil to the skin or giving olive oil as an enema (rectally) is beneficial
Of course we’re talking a reasonable dose here. Is a glug reasonable or unreasonable. Personally, I’d start with a swig and work my way up.
How much is a “glug”?
Some back-to-nature people claim that it will eliminate gallstones: “I drank X amount of olive oil, and saw them in my BM the next day!” What happened was this: The olive oil saponified (turned to chemical soap) when it met up with the bile in the small intestine.
If a person really DID have gallbladder disease, this could be extremely dangerous.
People who do have to take oily medications by mouth can make them somewhat more palatable by mixing it in whole milk (or even heavy cream) or applesauce.
It’s part of the whole miracle food/supplement fantasy, where people get the idea that doing that One Simple Thing will dramatically change/lengthen their lives.
Hypesters and producers make a lot of money off the credulous, who’ll do anything to avoid sensible, proven but difficult diet and lifestyle alterations.
