What age did you first see porn?

I would have given my eye teeth to find a cache of porn in the woods when I was young. This seems to be regular thing in the States, going by this thread. Do you have porn fairies who go down the woods burying treasure, or is this an adult treasure hunt gone wrong, or people so overwrought with guilt about their porn that they’re ashamed to put it in the trash and feel they have bury it. And what do all of you who live in desert country with no woods do? Are these stashes also buried in deserts?

I need to know.

I had to check on wikipeida to find when SelecTV debuted in the US (1978). Our neighbors were one of the first to have it and my friend did one of those “psst, you wanna see something” deals. I was 8 or 9 at the time and I remember some lady in a field with long black hair taking it from some guy. It just didn’t register with me what I was seeing at the time.
Odd thing is if I was 9 at the time then my friend who was two years younger was 7. Great parental supervision going on there.

I define porn as sexual penetration. Girlie mags ain’t porn. With that in mind, I was 21 years old before seeing actual hide-the-salami hard-core porn films. It was in Vietnam.

Being nosy around the house, when I was 8 or so, I found a stack of Stag magazines in my parents’ closet. This and Playboy is basically what counted as porn back them (although there were mythical porn loops usually seen at bachelor parties/stag smokers, but it would have been fairly unrealistic for a kid that age to run across anything like that).

Anyway, dad’s magazines were rather cheap; all black and white, very few real pictorials (“Yalta: Russia’s Topless Hot-Spot”), and lots of action stories (“I Broke Out of a VC Prison Camp!” or “I Faced Man-Eating Sharks!”). A few bare boobs and that was it.

Across the street, my buddy’s dad had Playboy magazines and occasionally I would see these, and admittedly they were much better than Stag mags. Eventually, I would learn that the grocery store behind our house would toss out their unsold magazines at the middle of the month when the new ones came in, so I learned to excel at dumpster diving at a very early age.

The magazines I mentioned in my earlier post were Hustler and Penthouse if that makes a difference. If those don’t count, then I have to upgrade my answer to age 12, because that’s when I found a copy of “Debbie Does Dallas” hidden in the back of the video collection at the house I babysat at.

I just noticed that no one, including myself, has really attempted to answer these questions, focusing more on the title question.

Not sure what you mean by “light” girl/girl. Like softcore? Amateur? I’m guessing it wasn’t one of the “pro” XXX gape-n-spit type things, at least. Some amateur stuff, like some of the Abby Winters line, can be relatively positive (or at least benign) toward women; if it’s gonzo/Girls Gone Wild type stuff, it can be really sexist, and often demeaning.

I’d be less concerned about the fact that it was porn, and more concerned about the way that exposure might affect early perceptions of gender and societal expectations, especially if the video is sexist or demeaning. Sounds like it might be time for a mother/child talk. Like, not all women do this with other women, but some do, coercion isn’t good (if it was a GGW type thing where there’s a camera guy often telling them what to do), etc. The kid is probably going to be intrigued by what they saw (whether they liked it or were disgusted), and will probably try to make sense of it… better off by being able to have questions asked and answered than the wandering off and discovering other stuff on their own.

I doubt the gender makes much of a difference.

There, there. Me too. You can sit next to me, in the “no opportunities” section. We have juice, popcorn, and cookies.

(Boy, have I started making up for lost time, though.)

OP: sounds like a case of no harm, no foul. Your friend’s kid should be unscathed.

My dad had some pretty hardcore pictorial magazines when I was younger, and I first saw those when I was around 10 while playing hide and seek. I then found his videos about two years later. I was titillated, intrigued, turned on. I would sneak into his office when my parents were out and (once I had a VHS player in my room), watch them and get off. Once, I snuck one out and took it to my boyfriend’s house while his parents were out and we watched it together (well, I use "watched’ loosely).

I still haven’t seen any porn! I’ll go out and buy a bunch, but I can’t bring it home right away, so I stash it in the woods. But when I get back to it, it’s always gone!

Girlie mags mostly of the Playboy variety, with a very Penthouses, perhaps 11-ish. Dumpster diving in suburban Michigan yielded many treasures back in the day.

Soft-core porn, maybe 13ish. I believe it was Emanuelle in Bangkok via a hotel late night pay-per-view ( which I guiltily denied having watched when it showed up on the bill, thankfully only as a “movie” ).

Hard-core porn, maybe 16ish, via VCR. Some film involving couples going to a sex club to reinvigorate their sex lives ( yes, I remember the plot  ).

I was 9 or 10; found my big brother’s Hump magazines. I don’t even remember my reaction.
A few years later I saw naked breasts in some cable movie.
When I was a teen, probably around 14 or so my friend brought over video tapes for a party. One featured farm animals, the other was all male. I didn’t care for it at all and I still don’t care for porn to this day.

I think I was 9 when I stumbled across my dad’s hidden stash of magazines in the back closet. The first time I deliberately watched porn was when I was 20.

I discovered my father’s stash of Penthouse mags when I was maybe 11. By the time I was 12 mom made him get rid of it. :frowning: I saw the occasional magazine all through junior and senior high, but never really owned any. Maybe one or two, but I don’t remember. One night when I was home from college I discovered a Puritan under my sister’s mattress. That was my first exposure to hard core.

And no, I have no idea why I was checking under my sister’s mattress.

When I was in my early 20s I discovered a part of town where a guy could walk into a store, go into a little private booth, and pump quarters into a machine that would show hardcore movies. For several years that was my only real access to porn movies.

The (a few years later) invention of VCRs was a welcome thing.

I would say over 18. This is when I saw porn. I don’t consider a naked lady to be porn. I think of porn as actual sex. I saw my brother’s playboy earlier but that is just a naked lady.

I guess I’m a late bloomer, having first seen porn at the ripe old age of 15. :dubious:

I think the ‘found stash in the woods’ thing worked like this: A group of kids either snagged their parents’ or grandparents’ stash, on the theory that no one would ever ask about it, or else they shoplifted from the local convenience store. However, being kids, they had no place to put it after, so they would hide it in the woods. Then the next group of kids would find it, and stash it somewhere else. Repeat until nothing is left but pulp.

When I was 5-6 I found some porn magazines under my Dad’s mattress. I remember being very confused and it was kind of jarring. I wasn’t even old enough to understand the concept of porn, I don’t think.

I didn’t look at them in much detail, just shoved them back under there and forgot about it.

I don’t remember when I first saw a Playboy, but it wasn’t any revelation as we had a summer place at a nudist camp and I had seen naked people all the time.

My “woods porn” experience was dirty novels stashed by the fence surrounding my Junior High School. I found some genuine hard core porn in a folder in my Dad’s office in the basement. He was a cop at the time, and I suspect it was from a raid on Kansas City’s “Time To Read” bookstore downtown.

I also went with the penetration definition of porn… Sort of a cultural thing, simple nudity isn’t a big deal.

I’m of the computer generation… so I must’ve been around 12 when I discovered the wonders of 256 color porn sigh I miss those gifs, the minutes waiting for them to load from the BBS were like little Christmases. …ah, the innocent days… when a couple of pink pixels would get me all excited.

I think i was over 18. If I saw anything before that, it was too mild/brief to leave a lasting impression.

And I absolutely do think there is a difference depending on what you see. Light girl on girl? Not really a big deal, you can easily explain that away with. “Sometimes, adults do things that make each other happy…” something like that, anyway. Bondage, fisting, golden showers? Good luck and I am happy not to be a parent!
