Like he cares about that. Anyone who doesn’t see the beauty, intelligence and the strength of Michelle Obama is to be dismissed forthright.
Today doesn’t count. He’s taking the weekend off, remember?
But he also worked today.
Personally, I’m looking forward to all the jobs he’s going to create. I’m betting the honeymoon will be a short one.
I am reminded of the Robert Redford movie “The Candidate”, where after winning the election he calls his advisor, goes up to a room, and asks “What do we do now?”, getting no response.
For whatever reason, Trump chose to use his crowning moment as an opportunity to give a candidate speech for an office he’s already won. He could have come up with all sorts of florid, grandiose nonsense like most of them have and made it memorable and aspirational, but it resembled nothing so much as another speech in Ames, Iowa or Tallahassee, Florida, or any other place he visited while running for office.
He also chose to bag on every single career politician there, including the ones he is going to depend on to get his agenda enacted. He might have had a point, their victories aren’t ours, but saying so while they’re sitting right there surely isn’t the way to get them on board, especially since they didn’t want Trump to begin with. Being a “maverick” is great and all, but what good is it if you completely isolate yourself from the people you need?
Then, to top it all off, he became the first president I can recall to outright call out a group of people and declare war on them. Going after “Radical Islamic Terrorism” is all well and good, but tell me that every Muslim in the US didn’t cringe all at once. He put them on notice that his administration is watching and that they better not step out of line, because the ONLY definite thing in that phrase is “Islamic”.
That wasn’t the speech of a statesman. Of course, Trump isn’t a statesman. If we’re lucky, he may one day be. We have gone from the best public speaker I have ever seen to someone who seemingly took the two required speech classes in college and promptly forgot everything he learned. I assume he wrote that speech. If he did, he needs to hire better speechwriters and work on the delivery. If he didn’t, he needs to fire his current speechwriters, hire better speechwriters, and work on the delivery.
Trump hasn’t written anything in his life, including the academic papers for his degree at U. Penn, which were composed by some nerd he paid. His hired scriptwriters are shitty, just like his Cabinet is shitty. He is really not good at finding “the best people.”
Here’s some analysis of private sector job growth (from June so Obama’s final numbers aren’t in yet): Calculated Risk: Public and Private Sector Payroll Jobs: Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama Looks like he will end up in 3rd place out of the last 6 Presidents (going back to Carter), being beaten only by Clinton and a little bit by Reagan.
Interestingly, one of the headwinds has been that public sector job growth under Obama has been lagging compared to some of the other Presidents. [Related to this are the headwinds of a Republican Party whose sole principle has been to try to undermine Obama, rather than to help in the creation of jobs.]
Also note that the total private sector jobs created during this recovery is a few million higher than the net number created over Obama’s entire tenure, since the economy was still severely hemorrhaging jobs when he took over [at the rate of almost 1 million jobs a month!] and it took a while to stop the bleeding.
That is complete and utter bullshit.
He paid?
A strange way to interpret the situation of a President coming in with the 2nd biggest loss in the popular vote since the founding of the nation and with the lowest popularity of any incoming President in at least 4 decades (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/poll-trump-draws-low-marks-for-transition-response-to-russian-hacking/2017/01/17/0926302a-dc25-11e6-ad42-f3375f271c9c_story.html and Donald Trump Is the Least Popular President-Elect in Modern History | Vanity Fair)
Yeah…It does seem unlikely. Probably, he got them to write the papers for him and then he stiffed them.
I am assuming this is in jest but please don’t appear to call other posters names.
[/moderating]
Yeah, it was in jest, but…seriously? “Kook” is verboten? “Kook” would hurt someone’s fee-fees?
And here I had edited it down from “fucking shit-for-brains.”
Thank you…
We’re ok. You just doesn’t express your displeasure or disagreement very well.
Look guys, Trump is polling at 56% http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/trump_administration/prez_track_jan20
I don’t much care, I don’t think he does either. He did write his own speach last I read. Hey, It was real. It was what the people elected him based on and he followed through thus far.
Ammunition to the leftists?..they fudge truth all of the time…they make up stories to push their agenda and their narrative…it does not matter what Trump does or doesn’t
do…he needs to be Trump and do whatever it is he feels like doing anytime he feels like doing it and let them scream bloody murder 24/7 on their lying tv stations
newspapers, radios,Hollywood, rap music…it does not matter what they think or so or react to real or otherwise.
You will never please them…you will never “win them over”…you will never change them…you can only fight them as dirty as they fight you…which is exactly
why we elected The Donald…
Are there other polls besides Rasmussen, and do they align with this one? Just askin’.
Two nations, under God…
Wasn’t there some political wannabe recently railing about the bona fides of the last POTUS?
Now you’re touting Trump is actually a Hebridean?
And likely goosed to boot.
Leave sleeping deities lie, charlatan

Just a note: I came across a meme on Twitter that purported to show that the part of Trump’s speech that started with “We are one nation - and their pain is our pain” was lifted from “The Bee Movie” from 2007, just with ‘nation’ replacing ‘colony’ and ‘home’ replacing ‘hive.’
So in case any of you come across this too, I couldn’t find the quote in that movie in the quotes sections of any of the popular movie sites. And it’s not in the only transcript I could find for the Bee Movie. So I think it’s bullshit.
Yesterday, I said that my big takeaway from his speech was the misdirection ploy - “look over there!” at our wealth being drained out for the benefit of the rest of the world. Here’s the section of his speech about that:
Pretty clear, I’d say.
Like I said, this is bullshit. America’s wealth hasn’t been drained out to other countries. America is richer than it’s ever been. Where the wealth is going is to the rich and the super-rich, the 0.1% and the 0.01%. But not a word about that.
AFAIAC, this is an outright lie on his part. If he was just a guy arguing politics in a bar, I could chalk it up to ignorance. But the President of the United States has a moral duty to not choose a direction for this country out of ignorance. His willful ignorance is a deliberate choice that enables him to lie freely and convincingly by not being encumbered by a knowledge of the truth. Fuck him.
That’s quite a stretch there to get to “Trump’s lying!”.
Obama spent the last eight years lying through his teeth. Did you show as much fire in calling him or on his obvious lies out?
The thing is, Obama did say some things that were lies, and some more things that weee wrong. But he said a whole lot of things that conservatives just didn’t like that you all called lies.
Trump’s main lies are generally matters of fact, not opinion. And they are extremely numerous.
Equally, the bulk of the Doper Americans are die-hard anti-Trump. He could have made the greatest speech ever and they’d still excoriate and denigrate it.
