What? ANOTHER ONE? You want another CAT?!! I can't handle this!

Yup. Dorothy is an evil mastermind cat, and Lillian her terrified, simple-minded stooge. Like Ren and Stimpy, Pinky & the Brain, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher.

One word:

**APOSTROPHES!!! **

I know this issue has been done to death here, but you’re a college instructor! Shouldn’t you be setting an example for your students? Obviously, in your other recent post where you used the phrase “and Iceberge”, you weren’t being subtly ironic, as I’d hoped.

–and yes, it’s true that two or more cats do a lot for each other that can relieve the owners of some of the worry and even a little of the responsibility.

Will people please stop shouting the word “APOSTROPHES” at Phlosphr!

I’d take the opportunity to have another Impossibly Cute kitten in the house myself. (I am of the opinion that little Minmei is THE cutest kitten ever, and the cutest that will ever be, but I’m sure her sister is almost as cute.)

I’d LOVE to have a pair of Siamese. And you know that your wife won the kitten battle once. I’m sure she can win it again…

You know what we need to get rid of those APOSTROPHES?

A 1920’s style death ray.

Look I’ve develped a slight tic with all this yelling. My wife, my students other faculty members and even the dean say I am terrible at spelling and writing the engligh language in general.

I know maybe all these years studying human behavior has manifest in my developing some sort of gramatical psycho-social disorder. Maybe I’m afraid of the keys. You should have seen the look on the editors face when my collegues and I wrote a second edition text the third year I was here.
“Prof.Phil needs to go back and take Eng.Comp again…his spelling is awefull…”
I’m going to pit myself, so I may use harsher language…

Thank you all for the compliments about Minmei. She is very Cute. Her sis is slightly more grey/brown around the nose and paws, but still as cute.

I seem to recall telling you this would happen. Amazing how those defenses crumble, eh?

Aww you’ll give in sooner or later so just save the energy and go get the damn kitten!

I believe we all predicted this in the last ‘I’m getting a kitty?!’ thread anyway.

Now all you need is some munchkins.

(Our house has 4 cats, one dog and a hamster in addition to the two of us, the munchkin girl and her little brother coming this fall to a nursery near me)

This is the clincher. You gotta get her. We got our 10 yr old Tammy but weren’t sure if we should get her littermate Max. After a month, we gave in, and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. Sure they fight sometimes, but they are still amazing together and we love them both immeasurably. Give in to Mrs. P’s request–you won’t regret it.

The only thing better than a kitten?

Two kittens!

I’ll chime in in favor of a playmate for your little one.

There’s another benefit besides company. My orange tabby was more than a bit on the plump side when I brought in my little black kitty. So far she’s managed to run a couple of pounds off of him.

Another advantage revealed itself to me just a few days ago. I was getting dressed to go out in the rain and plod on to work when I noticed the tabby was in the kitchen howling his head off. I had to go investigate and found him staring out the back door, fairly upset about something. Turns out that the black kitty had slipped out earlier when I opened the door a crack to check the weather. Now, all my cats are strictly indoor animals-raised that way from kittenhood. She was quite unhappy out in the rain and really wanted back in. If the big guy hadn’t alerted me I’d have gone off to work and left her out there all night, poor thing.

Of course, you have to be careful. After two, three just seems so easy… see my new little guy, for example.

Two kitts is only a starter set. You have fun when you sleep with six. You’re also warm beyond belief!

In bed, or out, for that matter, as every article of clothing in your house (and possibly the next-door neighbors’ as well) will quickly become furcoated.

I mean, some folks got fur coats, but me, I got fur socks, fur jeans, fur t-shirts, fur underwear…

Wanna know the perfect way to deal with extra cats . . .
Use a 1920’s style “Death Ray”.

Just go on and get the other kitty. You know you want her.

And I expect more pictures!

We did indeed. Plosphr, two cats really are easier to care for than one, don’t ask me why. You might even get some of your wife’s time back, if she thinks Minmei isn’t lonely without her.

P.S.-you promised ages ago to update that photo.

Oooh, want us to mass e-mail him with pictures of impossibly cute kitties?

Or tell him that Bailey is lonely? LOL

One cat is never enough. We have five.

At least it’s better than several Overfiend…

Have two cats.
Have two Canines.
Have two wives.

Awww… Plosphr this takes me back. Your first kitty thread was one of the first ones I followed when I found the SDMB (I am a longtime column reader, but have always conscientiously objected to message boards). I got a shelter kitten at the same time to fill the void when my 7 year old cat died suddenly, and to keep my 5 year old (cat) happy after the loss of his mentor.

As has been said, 2 kitties are easier than one, especially if that special litter dealy works… Also, they may start to ignore you for a lot of the time, giving you and the missus some alone time even in the house. A buddy can help Minmei be more independent, too and less neurotic even when she is alone

However, it should be noted that, with luck, cats can and do live a LONG time, like 15-20 years. In terms of time commitment, it should be similar to having a child, a fact many people ignore. I feel it is nice to have cats of different ages around, as the older one(s) will take the younger one(s) under his/her/their wing(s), so to speak. So I guess what I’m saying is, get the sister, but be prepared for a third in maybe 3 years time!

PS- is the treehouse winter-ready?
