Oh and finette - The treehouse is winter ready. We scrapped the idea of a bridge and went for the staircase. It’s lovely to sit up there and write, or do whatever, on occasion it get’s a bit lonely as my ultra courageous, uber brave dog won’t go up there!
Dammit, Phlosphr, that’s unfair, posting pictures like that. I wantakittenwantakittenwantakitten…
Yes, Guin, do start bombading him with kitty emails. Or I’ll just show him Minmei’s new picture. I’m going to change the computer background to tiled-with-kitty-pics. That’ll show him.
She certainly is. What an adorable little fuzzbucket! I see she’s making herself queen of the castle. And, you don’t seem to be railing as hard against kitty #2 as you were against Minmei.
To be honest if she wasn’t so damn cute, I’d probably take a harder stance, and her sister is almost identical to her…
Sigh my wife was on the phone with the breeder this afternoon…
Fine! I’m gett’in another dog damn it!
I seem to remember telling you in the first thread that two kittens are way more fun than one, and easier to take care of, too. And there’s nothing cuter than two kittens sleeping together!
She MUST have a little brother or sister!!!
And good luck on finding one that cute…
Do it quickly, though: the younger the cat, the easier it will be for them to accept another feline, IMHO.
Look at it this way…two kittens will tire each other out. Besides, you know that deep down, YOU want another kitten too.
And yes, Minmei is just adorable. I hadn’t realized that she was Balinese, I thought she was Siamese from the earlier pic.
Welcome to your new class mighty one
May the furballs be with you!
I can’t imagine what kinds of things kitties can hide in those log walls! I have enough fun treasure hunting behind the sofa and the fridge.
We knew you were powerless to resist the little blue kitten eyes
I wondered about the long hair- is a Balinese somewhere between a Siamese and a Himilayan (bad spelling, I’m sure)?
My stray-cat half-breed Siamese kitten jumped/slipped into the bathtub tonight – hysterical. I wasn’t in the bathroom, had just given my son a bath – and I heard splashing followed by an explosion of said cat out of the bathroom, resembling a large wet rat.
At my house, we have 3 cats right now. One we got when he was a kitten. Then when he was about 3-4 years old we got a female who was maybe less than a year old. They still don’t get along, especially now that she’s fixed. However, we kept one of their kittens and wouldn’t ya know it, mother & daughter are inseparable.
I think it depends on the cat. Because our male was silly and playful until the older female moved in on his space. Now he’s an old grouch.
Oh @#$%! I mean our male is fixed. Our female is in heat and I haven’t slept in three nights! Freudian slip! Wishful thinking! My brain is completely fried…
The answer to the question, “Should we get a kitten?” is invariably yes, sooner or later (usually sooner). Congratulations!
Being a person who’s had both cats and dogs, I have to offer the opinion that dogs, as pack animals, are more likely to require a companion than cats, who tend to be more solitary. Having said that, kittens sre sooooooo cute, so go get that baby kitty!
Poor sap…
Looks like you’re going to get a kitten anyway, but for what it’s worth, my cat hates other cats. She does not like to share attention.
We have two young cats, litter mates brought up together. They play with each other, hence much less “cat wants to play, human doesn’t” trouble. And the cat-wrestling show is most amusing to watch, especially when they get confused about whether they’re grooming each other or fighting, and switch modes at 5 second intervals.
One great advantage we’ve found is that they learn on each other that biting and scratching hurt. So when they play-wrestle with our hands, they are the most gentle cats I’ve ever met. They have the knack of play-biting and play-scratching without actual harm down to a fine art.
They both hate other cats coming into the garden. it’s clearly a territory thing. I would think a new cat would take some time to be accepted. When one of them dies (not for 15 years i hope) we plan to get two more kittens. Kittens get accepted more easily by older cats, I’m told, but this is hearsay.
Suuure you guys aren’t getting a kitten. Just like Dr.J was never going to live in a house where the four-legged animals outnumbered the two-legged animals. Riiiight. That’s why he keeps talking about how Dolly and Claudia want a puppy, and how Eponine wants a kitten.
A Himalayan is a Persian with a colorpoint gene…the personality and body type is that of a Persian. A Balinese is a semi-longhaired Siamese. Some say that there’s some Persian blood in the the Balinese, and others say that the longhair gene was a random mutation in the Siamese breed. A Balinese has a Siamese temperament and body type, which are vastly different from a Persians. Persians are very laid back, and have a stocky body. Siamese are quite active and vocal, and have a slim body.
I do not know much about breeding with-in cat families. But I have heard ours looks Balinese. So she very well may be. The breeder mentioned something, but I wasn’t paying too much attention, as I was just astonished that Phlosphr was getting a cat…I was reckoning with other things…
