What Are Farthest Compass Points You've Been To?

West: San Francisco
East: Ierapetra, Crete.

North: the northern tip of Manhattan

East: Bay Shore, NY – Long Island, about halfway between the City and Montauk

Boring, I know.

South: Sydney, Aust.
West: Hong Kong
East: Austria

North: Orkney, Scotland
South: Vitória, Brazil
East: Paris, France
West: San Francisco, CA, US

North: Kirkwall, Orkneys
East: Singapore
South: Singapore (so I have never quite left the northern hemisphere)
West: St Lucia

N – Fort William, Scotland (56.7 N)
S – Huonville, Tasmania (43 S)
E – Wellington, New Zealand (174.8 E)
W – Victoria, British Columbia (123.3 W)

N: Fort Greely, Alaska
S: Buenos Aeras (Gosh, I cannot spell to save my life this afternoon)
E
W Cross the date line a couple of times. I went east until it turned west and visa versa.

N: Helsinki perhaps?
S: Sydney
W/E: Circled the sucker

With the last couple who have crossed the dateline – I thought this thread was about being on the ground, and airports did not count. I too have crossed the dateline, several times, and the furthest north I have been was in a plane somewhere over Alaska (between Osaka and Detroit) – my guess is about 60 North. And I’ve been on the ground in Honolulu (157.8 W), in a plane, but not actually leaving the plane.

North: Arbroath, Scotland
South: Aruba
East: (relative to east coast, U.S.): Naples, Italy
West: San Francisco, probably

59N - St. Petersburg, Russia
176E - Rotorua, NZ
44S - Milford Sound, NZ
159E - Avarua, Cook Islands

North: Aberdeen, Scotland
South: Singapore (counts also for East)
West: Barbados

Not very impressive really.

North: Somewhere near Toronto, Ontario. Despite the fact I grew up in Upstate NY I’ve never been to the North part of the Adirondacks.
South: Key West FL.
West: Zion Park, Utah.
East: Boston MA. Again, despite the fact I grew up in Upstate NY the only times I’ve been to New England are the two times I flew into Boston for a gathering of online people, and the one time I drove into Vermont (and walked across the bridge from Brattleboro to New Hampshire just to say I’d been there.)

Using Houston, Tx as my point of origin:

North: Vancouver, BC
South: Sydney, Australia
East: New York City
West: Singapore

North: Montreal, Canada
South: Honolulu, Hawaii
West: Honolulu
East: Old Orchard Beach, Maine

North: Point Barrow, Alaska
South: Cordoba, Argentina
East: Hatay, Turkey
West: Twelve Apostles, Great Ocean, Australia

Well if ships & planes don’t count for round the world, I extend and revise my comments:

N: Fort Greely, Alsaka
S: Buenes Aires
E: Manila
W: Hawaii

Counting, rather egocentrically, from where I live (Ohio, USA):

North: Somewhere in Maine, USA.
South: Rio de Janeiro
East: Israel
West: San Francisco, CA.

Oh, and I stood right on the equator while I was in Ecuador.

Man, not even close on any of them …

North: Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
South: Buenos Aires, Argentina.
East: Beijing, China. (I would put Osaka, but Kansai was just a stopover on the way to Beijing).
West: San Francisco, CA, USA.
