What are some songs written from the cheating, scumbags viewpoint? Romantic infidelity at its best.

‘Cheating’ by The Gin Blossoms (and underrated band, IMHO)

Includes the classic line

“You can’t call it cheatin’
She reminds me of you”

I can’t imagine the rest of that goes well.

“(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don’t Want to Be Right”

Does Billy Paul’s “Me and Mrs. Jones” count? The narrator is having an affair with a married woman.

I THINK “Kiss and Say Goodbye” by the Manhattans is about a married guy dumping his girlfriend.

Bryan Adams’ “Run to You” is sung from the point of view of an adulterer.

“Me and Mrs Jones” is from the POV of a guy having an affair with a married woman.

ETA: Dammit astorian!

Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover

I don’t think it counts, it’s the woman cheating, not the narrator, right?

Lightnin’ Strikes

Nobody Knows Me by Lyle Lovett. It’s something you may not even realize until you listen carefully.

Springsteen’s “Hungry Heart” is about abandonment, followed by an affair. So it may or may not count.

No Way Out - Jefferson Starship

Carefree Highway - Gordon Lightfoot

I was going to mention that one! Great line and great song.

“Your Love” by the Outfield.

It’s the one that starts “Josie’s on a vacation far away…” and “I just wanna use your love tonight”

Cash recorded Dylan’s tune & wrote his own version, called “Understand Your Man.” But both may have been based on a song by Paul Clayton. (Lots of Dylan info at that site!)

Back to Cheatin’ Songs. How about one of the originals, “Slippin’ Around” written by the great Floyd Tillman?

I suppose I’ll have to say “It Wasn’t Me” by Shaggy…

“Follow Me” by Uncle Kracker.

I’m not worried about that ring you wear,
Cause as long as no one knows then nobody can care

I was just listening to one this morning: I Don’t Know You Anymore by Savage Garden.

“I’ll be courageous if you can pretend that you’ve forgiven me”

“I know I let you down
Again and again
I know I never really treated you right
I’ve paid the price
I’m still paying for it every day”

J.D. Souther - Run Like A Thief

“O.P.P.” by Naughty By Nature.

The other P stands for “property.”

Human by Human League (or is it The Human League?) has cheating confessions by both sides of the couple in the song.

“Human” - Human League, now used as an insurance commercial.
“Hold on to the Nights” - Richard Marx
“Loving You Against My Will” - Gary Allan

Not about infidelity per se, but a cheerful admission of breach of promise: “A Legal Matter” by the Who. “Sorry, baby.”
