What are some songs written from the cheating, scumbags viewpoint? Romantic infidelity at its best.

“Torn Between Two Lovers” - Mary MacGregor (Written by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary fame.)

Written by Willie Dixon and recorded by Howlin’ Wolf in 1960. (Mild apology for the obnoxious nitpick.)

Reaching back into the country files, there are quite a few.

Linda On My Mind Conway Twitty
Midnight Oil Barbara Mandrell
Does He Love You? Reba McEntire and Linda Davis (the voices of both the wife and girlfriend)
Morning Jim Ed Brown
You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me Lucille Kenny Rogers (well, almost the guy with a married woman)

FWIW"

In “Human” I thought they were recently broken up, but now I see they were just separated by miles. A business trip, or long distance relationship.

However, in “Lips of an Angel”, it’s apparent the couple talking to each other are ex’s of some sort. I only mention this because Cracked did an article including it not to long back and a lot of people assumed they were currently having an affair.

Not only is the narrator a cheater, but the song is Lou Christie explaining that his girl should understand that he wants a girl he can settle down with and trust to the very end, but until then, she should wait for him while he bags everything he sees.

 The one little thing was a child.

Then it happened one day, we came round the same way
You can imagine his surprise when he saw his own eyes

My contribution.

“I’ll be the other woman” By The Soul Children

and it’s a great song too…

(You Can Have My Husband But) “Please Don’t Mess With My Man”

“If I Fell” - Beatles

Ah, beat me to it. Bonus points for the ‘you can’t blame me, I’m just a guy, since when do we have self control?’ aspect.

Eh…taking the whole song rather than just the last verse, it’s more like he’s planning to leave his current (apparently cheating) girlfriend for a girl he thinks might treat him better. Vis: ‘If I fell in love with you, would you promise to be true?’, ‘I must be sure from the very start that you would love me more than her’, ‘don’t hurt my pride like her’.

:smack:

I always interpreted that as something that happened between the time of the affair and the time they met again. Yours makes MUCH more sense.

Errr… I assume you’re single then?

Most people in relationships would agree that it is cheating.

Having whispered late night conversations with your ex, while you’re girl is asleep in another room, is bad enough but wishing they were your ex, dreaming about them, never really moving on, and questioning your fidelity?

Married 12 years. I’m just saying it’s an unconsumated affair.

I’ll Make Believe It’s You – Jim Cuddy w/Jeff Tweedy & Jay Bennett

Lyrics here.

It only counts as “cheating” if any of the two other parties don’t know what’s going on, but Queen’s “Too much love will kill you” is about the inability to choose between two lovers.

Actually, it’s more like she left him for someone else.

Smithereens:Strangers When We Meet

I never really
Thought that she’d leave her
Whole home and family.
“I’ve got my own life,
You’ve still got your wife,”
She whispered tenderly.

Not with the final verse where he says ‘she’ll cry if we are two’, which implies she’s keeping him around, even though she refuses to be faithful to him.

No, more like “She’ll be sorry when she realizes she just threw away the BEST thing she ever had!”

The Way We Make a Broken Heart- John Hiatt with Roseanne Cash. She did her own version, but I don’t think it’s nearly as good.
