What are the best comic strips out there today

Yeah Dilbert is about the only fairly good one. I read a few other ones, like For Better or Worse, not so much for the humor. I like to see how other families interact. For people with kids, Baby Blues is pretty realistic at times.

I have to agree with MadPoet on this one. Dilbert is the best thing in my local paper, but user friendly is the funniest thing going. Ask any Unix geek.

As to past glories, I again find my feeling well represented by those who came before.

  1. Calvin and Hobbes was the best strip ever.
  2. Bloom County comes in second only because artistically it dod not stretch as many bouncaries.
  3. Far Side was an inspired dose of daily wierdness.

I miss them all. Why couldn’t Family Circus and Hagar the Horrible havegone instead? The gods are cruel.

The best lack all conviction
The worst are full of passionate intensity.

I can’t believe nobody mentioned The Piranha Club yet!

“Oh we were brought up on the Space-Race, now they expect us to clean toilets. When you have seen how big the world is how can you make do with this?”
Pulp, “Glory Days”

Rose is Rose is definitely one of the best comics EVER, second only to Garfield (of course).

I agree with most of what has already been mentioned. Drabble can be funny sometimes.
My favorite Far Side: A cow grilling burgers. Another cow says, “That’s just sick, Jesse.” (Hmmmm, maybe that was a tee-shirt.)

White Wolf

“Friends come and go, but enemies accumulate.”

Matt Groening’s pre-Simpsons strip, ‘Life in Hell’ back in the 80s. My college paper had it every week and I always looked forward to it. And, of course, Bloom County, Calvin & Hobbes, and the Far Side.

I don’t read many current comic strips. My interests changed as I got older, but I think I’ll check out the online comics, for shits and giggles.

“There comes a time in a man’s life when he asks himself, ‘Who will float my corpse down the Ganges?’” – Apu

Simpsons which appears in thecolour comics section on the weekends is funny… “Monster Trucks are for people who don’t understand wrestling”-Red Green

      • I like Robotman - the “kidnapped by teletubbies” episode was priceless. - MC
