Situation: My friend is a Spanish translator and copywriter (Spanish and English), and I’m a Japanese translator and copywriter (English). So we are looking for websites by which to get work.
A few years ago, another translator friend recommended proz.com and translatorcafe.com. Any thoughts on those? Any others?
For copywriting, my friend has been using WritingBunny (Mistake-free content writing services | Bunny Studio), but they have barely been sending him anything (he is good and has shown me his work for them, so I don’t think that that’s the issue). They also have a translation arm and are apparently looking for Japanese translators (but not Spanish).
And then there is fiverr.com. He has started setting up his profile there and so hasn’t really started. I would appreciate opinions on them and similar sites.
My situation in brief is that I am a very good translator of Japanese-to-English and have been doing it for 15 years with my own company (and for about 25 years total). My portfolio is very strong; I have done most of my writing for big Japanese companies, and most of my writing is marketing work visible to journalists and the public. I have been kept more or less busy by one main client and have done longish stints of interpreting as well since 2017. But my main client’s owner’s health is in doubt, so I need to get some other things for the sake of security, etc.
I say the above for the sake of context: I’m good, I’m not a newb to translating and copywriting, but I am a newb to searching for work online.
Thanks in advance for any and all ideas!
