No matter what thread it is, no matter who posts, you’re bound to find some discussions that inevitably turn into heated (or at least powerful) debates. These instances always seem to revolve around a single word or phrase. Which do you think are the top three?
IMOSHO (In My Oh-So-Humble Opinion), I think the top three buzzwords are:
“Guns”
“Gay”
“Fundie”
What about you, O Teeming Millions?
Note: I realize that I run the risk of starting a heated discussion involving the above three words (gay fundie gun fanatics?), so please, treat this thread lightly.
‘Scientific’ Creationism
Libertarian Political Theory
‘Nader costs Gore the Election’
Closed Threads
Prayer/Ten Commandments/etc in schools or public buildings
And, actually Jack, I think #2 on your list, techchick68’s sexual tastes would generate much more drooling and hyperventilating than ‘heated debate’.
I’m going to have to add another vote for felching. It does seem to be the “I’m an intelligent Straight Doper, so I’m going to use this word when I insult people and everyone will know how intelligent I am” word.
“VIRTUAL” has been much the rage. I virtually sick of it. I wish I had a virtual enforcer to virtually remove all virtual references from virtually everywhere.
