Off and on for the past 2 years or so, I’ve had these little bumps along the edge of my eyelids.
They are on the actual edge of my eyelid, by my eye… not sprouting from the base of any eyelashes. They last about half a day, or until I scratch them away with my fingernail. They’re very small, I have to get pretty close in the mirror to see them. I usually don’t know they’re there until my eye starts itching, like it has something in it. Once I ‘pop’ the bump or scratch it away, my eye will quit itching.
I might get one or two a day for a few weeks, and then they won’t reoccur for months. However it seems I’ve gotten them several times a week for the last month or two.
Any ideas on what it could be?
When you scratch them do they flake off? If so, they are essentially dandruff in your eyelashes. I had it for a couple of years, then it just went. No real idea why.
I get real bad dandruff on my head and beard when I’m stressed, but never in my eyelashes or brows any more.
No, they don’t flake off. They aren’t exactly like pimples, in the sense that they pop… but it’s definitely a pimple like discharge.
I thought it might be a stye… but the don’t last for more than half a day, even if I don’t bother with them. And there can be 2 more or more on the same eyelid at once.
Could also be conjunctivitis although I think that’s usually more inside the lid. Do you wear contacts?
I am not a doctor, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. You may have high cholesterol- fat deposits can build around the eyelids if you do.
You may also have allergies that cause the irritated bumps on your eyelids.
One of my friends gets eyelid breakouts during the summer from the fuzz on peaches.
