What are these "stale water" flies?

I haven’t seen one in a couple years so my memory might be off but I’ve always wondered what they were.

They were tinier than houseflies with really delicate-looking, beige-ish wings, is about all I can describe them as. But they usually appeared around an indoor pool of stale water, especially in a bathroom, or sometimes around rotting food, but if they were fruitflies they were certainly different color, and body structure, than the flies I’ve seen on rotting fruit and in the lab.

Maybe a drain fly (also called “moth fly” because of the feathery antennae). These are tiny flies often found around stagnant water.

That’s it! Thanks!

This critters used to live in the used fixer in my darkroom. They must be really tough!

Now I remember that I was actually going to compare their wings to moths, without even knowing they were called moth flies.
