What are things that are generally considered "sexy" that you find unsexy?

Seriously though, I think you’re missing the part where both men and women are telling you that they enjoy the look/feel of shaved/trimmed. If I’m not mistaken, OpalCat’s point was that she actually shaved prior to ever watching porn.

I think you owe Opal an apology for this.

I think her point was that she shaved prior to ever watching porn, *therefore *DtC’s assertion that, “It’s porn. The younger generation has been given an unnatural and distorted idea of what a woman is supposed to look like,” as a blanket declaration of the motivation of women who shave their pubic hair is bullocks. And I’d have to agree, for the very same reason - I shaved before I saw shaved porn, too. How did porn distort my idea of what a woman is supposed to look like without me seeing it? That’s some powerful porn, that is!

And then, rather than accept her explanation that she, personally, feels dirty with pubic hair, as a valid reason (besides porn) why she shaves, he tells her she’s pathological and she thinks women who don’t shave are dirty.

Once again, we have an trainwreck in the making because DtC can’t seem to use the word “sometimes” or the phrase “in my opinion.”

Well, I think DtC is actually saying that men like shaved women because they see shaved women in pron, not that women think they ought to shave because they see shaved women in pron.

Exactly. It seems like any guy under 30 thinks that bush is “dirty,” because their first exposure to eroticism only shows women shaved to look like children. If women enjoy it for themselves, who cares? I think it’s a turn-off, personally, but it’s not my vag. The perception that it’s unhygienic not to, though, is misogynistic and ignorant, and I blame porn for creating a distorted image of what is normal.

I highly doubt any guy under 30 thinks that, and as a guy under 30 I can tell you that most women under 30 don’t take it all off (and the ones that did mostly did so for their own benefit).

Probably one third of my partners have been clean-shaven (or waxed), and the other two thirds were trimmed to varying degrees. If there’s a perception that it’s unhygienic to leave it totally unkempt, I’m fine with that, because a full bush is annoying.

I rest my case.

You realize that pubic grooming has been the de facto norm in every corner of the globe and all throughout history, right? No?

You really think people recently got the idea from watching porn? Hell, I trim mine down to a tidy little delta because about twenty years ago I noticed that some women would comment negatively if was left wild. Shortly thereafter I noticed that keeping this tidy meant fewer awkward pauses to fish loose hairs out of kind mouths, and a longer period between getting out of the shower and feeling like I’ve got the Florida everglades in my shorts.

As far as women go, I’ve never been one for the totally shaved look, but appreciate that the pendulum has swung toward trim and tidy again - I don’t miss having my nose rubbed raw, like it sometimes was in the eighties.

People do this because it’s convenient, not because it’s some weird porn fetish.

Jesus Christ, you guys. This thread was fun up until a page ago.

Spitting and degradation in mainstream non-BDSM porn make me sick, although I know I’m not the target audience. What I find unsexy and what I am the target audience for are scenes in TV shows where the “hot” male lead shows up in just a towel or something, and there’s a pause in the show’s pacing for all us ladies to acknowledge his hotness and squeal before someone says the next line. First of all, that hot guy is never my type, and the typical Hollywood male physique is a turnoff because it just looks like the product of vanity. Secondly, pandering to the audience is embarrassing. Thirdly, anything that shines a neon light on something, pointing it out and demanding that I find it arousing, just irritates me. No, fuck off, and let me admire that character actor in the secondary role who is too [hairy/big-nosed/frumpy/whatever] to play the hot lead but who has him beat in sex appeal by a mile.

I’ll let Michael Scott speak for me.

What, True Blood? :). Honestly, I think the sex is there, just long enough, for shock value and to say “Hey! We’re on cable!”

In the same light, Roughly 50% of people find penises sexy, but I definately don’t.

@DtC - I think we’ve all heard your opinion. No one is forcing you to shave your privates if you don’t want to.

Oh! I forgot one
Belly button piercings

But you did imply that I was saying anyone who didn’t shave was dirty. I just know that I don’t feel like I can keep the skin clean under that hair properly. And it’s an area that sweats. I don’t know what other women do.

And for the record, my scalp felt a lot cleaner when I had my head shaved, too.

Yeah, orange skin is a big turnoff.

Raspy voice is a big turnoff.

Tattoos and piercings are generally neutral or turnons.

Is orange skin generally considered “sexy”??

These guys do! (Note: don’t worry, not Jersey Shore, or anything to do with guidos).

The title of the thread is “generally considered ‘sexy’”. I mean, I’m not into amputees, but just because a rare group likes stumps or orange skin or earsex, it doesn’t make me weird to not like it. I think the thread is more about common things, like “big boobs.”

It seems like it’s a coming thing..

I would have thought that story would have ended with ‘Shoppers shouted “Run away! Run away!"’, but what do I know?

I was thinking of both fake tan and overly tanned. I realize they’re not the same thing.

Tans in general are one on my list. Everyone seems to think they’re sexy; I think they make a person look like they’ve been cooked. I think they’re kind of gross looking.

Note, I did grow up in southern Arizona, so I have a different opinion/view of the sun and suntans from a lot of people, I think.
