I have no idea what clothes for Fall/Winter are going to look like. Does anyone have any clue? I hope to see lots of sweaters and suede. And maybe angora. Anyone?
I knew I liked you, Kalhoun.
Ralph Lauren’s bringing back tweed and velvet, I think. I saw lots of suede at his show, too.
High waisted pants seem to be on their way in, too. It’s a shame because I like lower waisted pants.
I, too, want chunky cable-knit sweaters and buttery-soft suede skirts and pants.
I’m thinking of springing for a shearling this fall.
Leaves. I’m going to be wearing leaves.
Juanita, at least I’m not alone in my shallow quest for fashion! High-waisted pants, huh? Not so good for “Kalhoun The Short Waisted”. I hope the longer length jackets are still in. I’m not a big fan of tweed, though. I’ll be taking a pass on that.
And PLEASE! Can we lose the chunky shoes and go for a more tailored, stiletto boot this year?
Oh. And ditto on that shearling. I’ve wanted one for years.
[Eve wanders out into the hallway, where they are laying out the clothes for the November issue]
Looks like lots of black leather. Unless we are doing a special S&M Issue.
Mmmmm…black leather…The perfect wardrobe for cat owners! How 'bout vests? Has anyone seen vests? I’d kind of like to see the “Man” look come back.
The hallway is looking very Emma Peel/Honey West. Though I have to add that our fashion director is mentally unstable.
Oh, I like Emma Peel! I’m thinking it probably won’t work at the office, but it’s cute anyway.
Eve, you have a fun job. I work at the corporate offices of a Major Retailer That Doesn’t Have Real Good Fashion Sense. We never have good fashion stuff in the hallway.
Kalhoun, I’m seriously thinking of revoking your membership in the Fashionistas of SDMB! Where have you been? Chunky shoes/boot went out of style a while ago.
Juanita, the Midwest is still CRAWLING with the stuff! Even in the summer I see black, chunky shoes! I can’t stand it!!! Arrgghhh!!
Please! Please! Don’t take my membership card! I promise to read Vogue cover-to-cover!
Eh, how 'bout batik floaty dresses? I thought not.

I dunno about you ladies, but I’ve been checking out theAnthropologie Catalog that came in yesterday’s mail, and am anxiously awaiting the day when I can slip my tootsies into these bad boys!
I have also been perusing the Delia’s Catalog (I know, I know, but it’s cheap stuff, and some of it’s quite flattering, even at my age), and am duly thrilled with the return of the 80s.
These shoes take me back almost 20 years!!!
Oh, and I’m also cruising ebay for vintage goodies. That’s where you get the good stuff.
Of course, all of this is contingent on my new husband NOT puking on my delicious new shoes when he sees them.
We DO NOT have the same taste in clothing!
The 80s are back? Ughhh. The style seem so kitschy.
However, I am thrilled that you say high-waisted pants are en vogue. Low-waisted look so much more flattering on me, but when I sit down, my big rear end tends to make an appearance. Maybe if I put on a big chunky angora sweater - I’m thinking in plum? Maybe harvest orange? - it’ll cover my waistline
I’m more into leather than suede. Maybe my “classic” burgundy red leather blazer and my “classic” waist-length black leather jacket will be more in style now! (Yes, yes, they’re classic enough that they don’t go out of style. But it’s BETTER when they’re very, very in!)
Mmmmm. Black leather!
Love. This. Thread.
Have absolutely no idea. Must read on.
Auntie Em, I never heard of those catalogs before. I saw a couple things I’d be interested in in Anthropologie. I can’t wait to see their fall stuff.
I’ve always wanted a burgundy leather short jacket with matching boots. Maybe this will be my year, huh?
I just received this catalog for the first time. http://www.jjill.com/default.asp?sourcecode=pfgoo1
There are some really nice things, and they cater to petites, talls, and Misses. Woo-Friggin’-HOO!
I have my eye on this jacket
(maybe with a long denim skirt and black boots?)
Jeans, sweaters and leather jackets. Just like every other year.
I think I’ll just skip fall and head right into winter.
Every time I see “jjill” I think of the Sesame Street song “J Joe Jeans and his jelly beans, hey! Let’s sing a song about J!”
This fall I will be wearing whatever everyone gave to the thrift store last fall. It all looks the same to me anyway.
