I never got into star wars, orange is the new black, the walking dead or breaking bad.
Barbara, yes. But NOT Irlene. She was a cutie.
I absolutely love Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals, and I do not think he gets the credit due him. The same applies to Stephen King’s novels. When King gets it right, he is amazing. Read 11/22/1963 if you don’t agree.
I agree with this.
And this.
My contribution: I am a huge fan of fantasy novels, but I can’t stand Harry Potter.
I much preferred the original Godfather to Godfather pt II. Don’t get me wrong, Godfather II is very good, but the original is basically a perfect movie AFAIC.
I’m generally a big fan of late 1960s-early 1970s psychadelic rock, but man oh man did the Doors suck.
There is no pop music published after 1960 that I want to hear.
I think Daredevil with Ben Affleck was a really good movie.
That is my most well-acknowledged crazy opinion. Let’s see, I also think:
…the Pirates of the Caribbean movies are great. They seem to get dumped on a lot.
…Coldplay is a really great band. Yes, I’m one of those people.
…The Riddick movies are some of our best sci-fi adventure movies.
Aren’t you way past your 7p.m. bedtime? ![]()
I’ve never cared for the solo introduction to Schiller’s Ode to Joy in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. The full chorale is okay, but it always sounds to me like the solo artist is grunting like a Neanderthal instead of reciting a poem in German.*
I love classical music, but I can’t stand opera. I hate sitting for three hours listening to fat people sing in languages I don’t understand before they die after getting stabbed. Most female opera artists sound like air-raid sirens anyway. Opera is nothing but high-falutin’ melodrama set to tedius, boring, obnoxious music. Ptui!
In general, I prefer orchestral to vocal music regardless of the period or composer. So sue me!
*And please, no cracks about the German language itself. I love German! :o
I like the Tom Bombadil chapter, dammit.
I went out with my daughter to a new Mexican restaurant in my city 13 years ago and I took one bite out my burrito and slit it out ! I told our waiter that it was no good and I couldn’t eat it . I found out later is was the cilantro that tasted like soap and I also found out this has a lot to do with your genes . The stuff is vile !
I went for Mexican food with my family recently and that vile stuff was in just about everything even the guacamole . I was able to get slices of avocado instead.
Interesting. I went to a Chinese restaurant with my daughter when I first started coming to Toronto, and we were convinced the folks in the kitchen had neglected to rinse the Joy dishwashing liquid off our plates before putting the chicken and broccoli on them.
Turned out we were tasting the fresh ginger in the dish, not soap. I never imagined fresh ginger would taste like that! :smack:
Cilantro, on the other hand, I’ve never had a problem with. It’s in a lot of Georgian dishes, and I really like Georgian cuisine. :o
I like pineapple on pizza.
I thought The Tommyknockers (by Stephen King) was a great book (most people on here tend to hate it and think it’s crap).
I think the Left Behind books are great and wonderfully written.
I hate Monty Python ANYTHING. It’s not funny at all, IMO. Most British humor isn’t (IMO).
I like liver. I like brussels sprouts.
I hate all beer. I hate all sports. I know nothing about cars. I hate all dairy (alone), I hate all fruits.
I find old…anything…to be boring. Classic books are boring. Twain? Austin? Dickens? All extremely boring. Shakespeare has to be the most boring of all of them. So incredibly uninteresting. There have been one or two that have been the exception, but not often. I mostly like horror, mystery, suspense, and thriller novels and that’s it. Oh, and it has to be fiction too. I find nonfiction books incredibly boring as well UNLESS they are “fact” or “list” or “reference/info” books…those are great.
Same with movies. I dislike and find boring most movies made before, say, 1977…with only a few exceptions (let’s say, ten). Casablanca? Boring, I’d never watch it, it wouldn’t interest me. Godfather? No thank you, never…boring as hell, wouldn’t interest me. If a movie is in black and white I know beyond a doubt I would automatically find it boring. Most movies from 77 to say, about 85 are also not as great, although there are far, far more than just ten exceptions existing in that gap. More like, 200 or so. Only after around 1986 are the movies that really interest me.
Same with TV shows, obviously. With only about THREE or FOUR exceptions, any show that is in black and white would be boring to me…and only about 12 exceptions total if a show was made before, say, 1986 (whether it’s in black and white or not).
If anyone is curious over what any of the exceptions are (in book, movie, or show form), feel free to ask in here or PM me.
I like Spam! :o
Steamed broccoli rules!
I can’t stand ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, or the novels of Jane Austen, William Faulkner, and James Joyce.
I’ve never been able to appreciate beer. It doesn’t matter what brand.
OK, people are no longer entitled to their own opinions if they’re going to be this dangerously wrong.
Liked the food in the Air Force
Love liver and onions
Like to read math books
0!=1 is exciting

I don’t do well at speed dating.

I like Nickelback!
