What are/were your contrary opinions?

I enjoy watching both football and soccer. I don’t think one needs to take a side. Kinda like with cats and dogs.

Totally. Man of Steel and BvS are garbage. Superman Returns was pretty good.

Agreed. Cannot tolerate. Honestly struggle to understand how anyone can. REALLY cannot understand how the franchise managed to be popular enough to continue after such a terrible first book. REALLY wish that any other decent YA fantasy series had gotten the love instead.

The first one, I deeply enjoyed. The others…not so much.

Totally. It doesn’t really even seem weird or out of place to me. I DO understand why it tends to get cut from adaptations though - it’s not that it’s not GOOD, it’s that it’s relatively self contained and an easy place to excise.

YF is okaaaaay. Definitely not a laugh riot. Did not really like The Big Lebowski. HAAAAATED Pulp Fiction SO SO MUCH.

Oddly, so do I.

I don’t know if this is an unpopular enough opinion but I can’t STAND nonfat yogurt. It’s like eating chalk. But the stuff is EVERYWHERE.

I really disliked the Tim Burton version of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” despite general critical approval and claims that it was “more true” to the book. The original is better in pretty much every way.

I loves me the smell of creosote, asphalt, and gasoline . . . but my favorite is new tires. I’d consider a career in car repair if I could work in a tire store.

Inconceivable!

I don’t think Godfather > Godfather II is a contrary opinion. Now Godfather III > Godfather II would be extremely contrarian.

I am sick to death of superhero movies.

All right, after reading through this whole thread, I’ve thought of four:

(1) I don’t like hamburgers.
(2) I like the smell of fresh cigarettes, even though I have never smoked and nobody in my family did, either.
(3) I like Miley Cyrus. First of all, she can sing like nobody’s business. But moreover, I think it’s cool how she just feels comfortable with not behaving the way a celebrity is “supposed” to behave. She has the “wrong” haircut, “wrong” body, “wrong” facial expression, “wrong” dance moves, and she’s cool with that.
(4) This one is really specific, but American Ninja Warrior changed their rules this year so that the top 5 women move on to the next course. A lot of people (at least online) seem to be mad that women and men are no longer being treated as equals. I find that whole mindset strange, since it’s universally acknowledged that men and women are *not *biologically equal, particularly when it comes to upper body strength, which is what the ninja warrior courses primarily focus on.

One of my favorite movies!

Wait, people liked that movie? Everyone I know hated it.

Oh, my, yes. That movie was a travesty. As a huge fan of the original Gene Wilder version, I just pretty much pretend the Johnny Depp version doesn’t exist, sort of like Highlander 2.

Yes, it was generally received reasonably warmly (83% Rotten Tomatoes critics, 51% audience.) For me, well, the Gene Wilder movie is so ingrained in me that it’s hard to fairly compare it with the newer version. I think they’re both good, but my preference is with the original movie.
