What are you currently binge-watching?

Currently it’s the original UK House of Cards. Far better than the US version.

We’re also enjoying Top of the Lake. Fascinating characters and the original mystery leads to so many others.

me, too. Haven’t watched the last episode yet. Is there any reason to suspect the show was inaccurate in its portrayal of entertainment industry execs and their staff?

there was a structure made from large blocks of stone along a river…where cute guy hid the diamond…fooled the bad girl, etc… and Mama and I saw the same structure last night on Blacklist…is Blacklist also shot in Toronto?

I suppose part of the charm of big, black SUV’s is their anonymity – they fit in every city or showdown involving G-men.

It would be even more refreshing to not have nudity at all, and to shoot plots that don’t have to lean on a naked woman riding a man while gasping and squealing. Or a man socking it to a woman from behind. Is there really a point where this sort of thing becomes so blah that the writers are allowed to try some witty or intelligent dialog instead?

Star Trek: DS9
AKA Star Trek:Deep Sleep Nine

I hadn’t seen many of these since they first aired in the 1990s and I’m surprised that for what was supposed to be the “adult” Star Trek series that this show was surprisingly childlike. The relationships are shallow and the motivations are so transparent it’s almost embarrassing.

I’m finding that rooting or The Dominion is more enjoyable than hoping that the Federation succeeds. Not that good of a program.

No, no. It’s a docmentary.

I’m currently rewatching another real life show Better Off Ted

Just finished getting caught up with all seven seasons of The Big Bang Theory. All we’re missing now is a few episodes from Season 7, which we’ll catch in reruns or when we pick up the box set.

We’re also watching classic Doctor Who starting with the Third Doctor (eventually we’ll go back and do One and Two, but not till we finish Three through Seven). Not really binge on that, though, since we’re getting physical discs one at a time from Netflix.

I’ve been watching a crapload of The Big Bang Theory, starting last week.

I only ever watched a portion of a couple of separate episodes previously, and I was mostly unimpressed, and really, I disliked the show based on how often the writing felt the need to explain the intellectual jokes. Plus I found the whininess/borderline autism of the characters grating.

But, I gave it another chance, and I am brooking these issues in the name of Kaley Cuoco.

Thankfully there are 2-3 different episodes airing daily on various channels, so I’m slowly catching up.

The show is a complete whitewash. If they showed Real Hollywood you wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. (Episode 6 of this season is my favorite. The one with Morning’s daughter. Full on LeBlanc.)

I’m doing it bass ackwards, my wife hooked me with Coven so now I have to go back and watch the first two seasons.

Some guidance — what do you all think of Dexter for me, given that I liked American Horror Story? I think it sounds good, but could be full of stupid, which I want to avoid. Teenagers have recommended it to me, but I want a more nuanced opinion.

It really is. It was much better than we expected, and that was even though we had heard it was good.

Please do. It’s not my usual cup of tea, but it’s just so well done that I’ve been totally hooked.

Yes. Yes, I did.

Ah ha! I saw the “Canadian Casting” note, but I was pretty sure the show wasn’t Canadian (for one thing, it’s far too good).

That’s part of what has captivated me with “Suits” - I’m sure there has been some nudity, but it’s all about the characters and the dialogue. And once again, I’m pleased as hell at the language - lawyers being able to talk like I imagine lawyers actually talk is wonderful. I think the phrase, “Bullshit” comes up every episode.

Just as I suspected.

I tried “Dexter” but it was too much for me.

Impractical Jokers.

I have been mourning Breaking Bad since I ran through it at break-neck speed and then fell off the edge. I’ve even tried starting it again, but I don’t think that’s going to do it.

For now, I’m watching Netflix’ own series Orange Is the New Black. It’s pretty good but I’m not too far into it yet. Jodie Foster directs. It’s about women in prison. Oddly, my 14yo son is crazy for it… Hmm.

I just found out Orange is the New Black was based on a memoir; I had somehow gotten the idea it was some kind of spinoff from Weeds.

What was too much about Dexter? Just too horrible?

Right now I’m binge-watching Luther: I recently finished the first season, and am about to start the second one.

I sporadically binge-watch Breaking Bad, but I’m somewhere around the end of the second season or the start of the third one and I seem to have lost interest.

Thirded. I discovered it last year, and binge-watched the first season and a half before I caught up with it. I’m watching the current season as it airs.

You know, my father recently recommended that show to me! He rented it from Netflix, though, and it doesn’t seem to be available via streaming anywhere (I don’t have a physical disc plan with them). I’m toying with buying the first season on DVD just based on reviews…

Meh. I tried watching the UK version after the first season of the US version, but couldn’t get past the first episode. (And I’m a fan of British TV.)

Are you maybe thinking of White Collar? And Fort Totten?

I loved Dexter! I only liked the first season of American Horror Story, though, so take that for whatever it’s worth. grin

I think that’s it in a nutshell. I don’t want to feel empathy with a sociopath and see things from his perspective. I didn’t connect with any of the characters in the show, either.

Doc Martin. I’m ready to move to Portwenn.

The wife and I are getting up to date on Torchwood. I’ve seen them all through Children of Earth, but once we get to Miracle Day, they’ll be new to both of us.

After that, she’s been suggesting we need to go through The Sopranos. She only saw up to season 4 I think. She survived the violence in Game of Thrones, so I’m hoping I can talk her into 24.
