Tullamore Dew
Romana Black Sambuca
Double Bastard ale
A fine organic gin. After that, whichever of my Dad’s wines has cleared enough to be declared ‘done’.
The Christmas Cocktail this year will be Midori and pineapple rum with a maraschino cherry thrown in. Neon green and neon red! Perfect!
Various (in type and price range) wines, Caramel Apple Martinis and Margaritas.
23 year-old Black Maple Hill Rye!
plain and simple here…Diet Coke with Captain Morgan
might have a pitcher of Bloody Marys with brunch
oh yes…the Captain was a birthday gift from a couple days ago
It was over 21, officer!
Irish Coffee made with Bushmill’s, Tanzanian Peaberry, raw sugar and extra creamy whipped cream. Spider would approve!
Like SmartAleq…Irish Coffee
Jigger Bushmills Irish Whiskey
One spoonful sugar
Fill with Coffee
Top with plenty of whipped cream*
Make, Drink, Repeat
*Beat pint whipped cream to hard peaks, add two spoonfuls sugar and two capfuls imitation vanilla.
I was with you right up to the imitaion vanilla!
I gave hubby a really good bottle of bourbon as one of his Christmas gifts (Old Granddad 114), and have encouraged him to get some egg nog when he goes to the dairy store today. I bet some nice egg nog with a little splash of the Old Granddad and a sprinkle of nutmeg would be perfect after dinner tonight!
I have been hankering for some Irish Coffee lately, so when we get together with friends, I just may break out the ingredients and some cool whip.
No, no, no, no, NO! Not “cool whip,” it’s gotta be real whipped cream. The fake stuff tastes foul and will turn into chunky gloppy nastiness in the cup and ruin the whole thing–it’s nothing but weirdly shelf stabilized oils, gross. Real whipped cream, little bitta sugar and real vanilla. And no damned Jameson’s, that stuff tastes like pee. Bushmill’s and good, fresh brewed coffee from fresh ground beans. I heartily recommend a combination of Trader Joe’s Cafe Pajaro and Tanzanian Peaberry beans, it has a lot of body and will stand up to a very large knock of booze–you look for that!
Opinionated, moi?
This year so far it’s Becks and Morgans Private Stock. Tommorow I think I’ll switch to Vodka. (yes Vodka gets a capital V for its goodness)
Amended: the drink of choice for to-day’s festivities has in fact been Two-Buck-Chuck, of the variety Valdiguié. I have no idea what it is, but it’s good.
The tequila is being saved for NYE, when we shall be having a taco and burrito bar.
I agree about the whipped cream, but disagree about the whiskey. IMO, Jameson is better choice. Either is heaven, but Jameson is heaven with a beautiful girl at your table.
Alcoholic: Young’s Double Chocolate Stout.
Nonalcoholic: Pumpkin Spice eggnog from the WaWa.
Consumer alert for Trader Joe’s shoppers: their Premium eggnog is delicious, but the Light eggnog is not only not delicious, it’s truly disgusting.
Christmas is over here (Hurrah for time differences!), but at various points yesterday I had:
Wild Turkey Heritage 101 bourbon (From my Personal Selection that doesn’t get shared with anyone)
Wild Turkey American Honey liqueur (Yum! A most thoughtful present from my father-in-law)
Spitfire ale (which is just the thing for relaxing on the couch with after a tasty Christmas Dinner)
Brown Brothers Moscato wine (very nice indeed)
I’ve also got some nice, cold Dos Equis sitting in the fridge if I feel like a drink this evening too.
Heresy! Pistols at dawn, or wine soaked bread at ten paces?
