Bailey’s and coffee, not on a mission, just being sociable
I bought a 12 pack of Samuel Adams Winter Lager just before Thanksgiving. Since then, I’ve slowly been savoring a bottle or two at a time, finishing the last of it on Xmas Day.
We just cracked a bottle of Wild Turkey American Spirit.
Interesting. The flavors run backwards. After 15 years in oak, I expected this bonded bourbon to be…more, somehow. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good bourbon. But I think I like Rare Breed and/or Kentucky Spirit more. Of the Wild Turkey’s offered, I think my rating would be:
- Rare Breed
- Kentucky Spirit
- Russell’s Reserve
- American Spirit
- Wild Turkey 101
Worth it for the experience and the exposure, but not worth the price as an every-day tipple.
That’s true of a lot of bourbons, IMHO. I don’t usually go higher (price-wise) than Wild Turkey or Maker’s Mark for an “everyday” drink.
Miller Lite
Crown Royal
Gentlemen Jack
Bacardi 151
Bloody Marys
Nothing different than my usual fare. I don’t drink much wine. Might mix some rum or whiskey with some store bought eggnog.
Beer and tomato juice (with black pepper)
Pomegranite 7-Up. I’m already on my fourth 2-liter of the season. Everyone warned me it would be too sweet, but it actually tastes much more like cherry 7-Up with a cranberry-esque aftertaste.
I will get a bottle of brandy this week. I want something in the $20-$30 buck range; any suggestions? Plus, I’ve only had it served on the rocks or with ginger ale. Any good suggestions for simple mixed drinks featuring brandy?
Far, far too much.
