I have been carrying around a scarf in my purse to work on whenever.
Harry Potter Scarf in my kids’ school colors. At the rate I am going, they will be 50 when I finish.

I’m working on fingerless gloves in grey alpaca that I spun a few weeks ago.
I started this Autumn Haze afghan as a gift for my mom’s 65th birthday, which is next week. I started it with ample time, but put it aside, for I don’t know what reason.
I think it will make a wonderful 66th birthday gift.
Those Amanda hats are sweet. If I started one tomorrow I might be able to get it to her at least in the same month as her birthday.
Ohmigosh! Just clicked on AllShookDown’s baby turban link. A friend is expecting a baby girl in February. Guess what she’s getting!!!
After catching up on this thread this morning, I decided to try the Amanda hat for one of the charity hats I’m doing. I started this afternoon and I’m going to start the decreases as soon as I get off the computer and put a movie in. Super quick knit and it looks more complicated than it is. You should definitely give it a shot.
A word of warning. I found out (the hard way) after I posted that the Ravelry pattern is NOT the same as the picture. The written pattern has like four rows of garter stitch (or is it reverse stockinette?) and 6-7 rows of stocikinette which is clearly not what the picture looks like and the hat knit according to the pattern directions doesn’t look right at all. I actually bought yarn from Pickles to make these so intend to write and ask where I can get the “real” pattern but haven’t done so yet.
Having successfully knitted an actual, working sock I am now endeavoring to repeat the feat, to achieve a pair.
Yay socks! I’m going to dig out my chunky yarn and make myself a couple of quick pairs soon.
I finished a super-chunky hat, in headache-inducing purple, lime, and teal. It’s warm today but I wore it anyway.
Oh how I wish I had MORE time to knit! I have quite a few unfinished projects. I thought posting them on ravelry would help me develop the desire to finish one before starting the next—HA! I just sat a project down to pickup the laptop-it’s a beautiful turquoise scarf called “elbaite”
For some insane reason, unsatisfied with my giant granny rectangle blankie for my upcoming niece, I’ve decided to make her this owl hat. I am TERRIBLE at following crochet patterns or even nicely written instructions like these, but I am strangely confident about this one…
My niece is to be called Olive. I happen to already know an Olive, an adorable Western Screech Owl. So, what other hat could suffice? I will make Olive’s hat look as much like Olive as I can. I was thinking I might make it a barn owl, with a white heart shape under the eyes (hey, I can crochet hearts!) but that misses the Olive point a bit… any suggestions for a nice variegated screech owl colored yarn?
Basic black wool gloves for the Kiddo.
Adorable hoodie for my friend’s soon-to-be-born baby. She doesn’t know if it’s a boy or girl, so I am doing it in Ginger. I figured orange was equally boy or girl, like green is.
This morning, I bought a set of long looms because there’s a hat/coat/scarf drive at work. I have a bunch of yarn at home, and a week of vacation coming up, so I’m going to see how many I can crank out. From the research I’ve done, it’s easy for a beginner to crank out a loom scarf in just a couple of hours (whereas I’ve been working on knitting/Tunisian-crocheting a few scarves for a couple weeks, and still haven’t gotten one long enough to bind-off yet).
I’m excited to get started loom-knitting! If it goes as well as I expect, I’ll have 5-10 scarves to donate. Then I can move on to more advanced techniques for my next project, which is making a scarf for my mom out of pink & gray boucle. Then after that, I have two expecting co-workers to make baby blankets for. And after THAT, if I’m still having a good relationship with my looms, I plan to buy a sock loom (it’s about $25, and would be well worth it).
That’s enough to keep me busy for about the next 3 months, I reckon.
OOO! I didn’t know they had sock looms! Need more info!
This is a good place to start :^)
I’m knitting socks for 2nd Son’s girlfriend, in the most incredibly bright red I’ve ever seen. The first one is done and turned out very nice.
I’m going to try to make felted booze-bottle cozies for the older boys per request. That should be an interesting project.
After finishing that sweater, it was nice to knock out a little project in a few days. This is for a craft exchange (hm, wonder what he’s making me…).
Finished my owl hat! My boss saw me making it, and ahem suggested a scarf with an owl motif might look good on her… we’ll see who gets her name in the office Secret Santa before I decide anything…
I started a lacy scarfy thing with the rest of the lovely owly yarn (its speckled black and grey fingering weight merino) but I think I’ll pull it out and try another pattern; I don’t think I’ve got it right, somehow…
I’m crocheting a Tardis for my geeky man. Already made him a custom Darth Vader.
Crocheting a TARDIS? Can you share the pattern for that?
This is the pattern I used. I did the embroidery with yarn and found that it didn’t turn out as well as I’d have liked and it was tedious, but I didn’t have any floss handy, but it wasn’t terrible. I also chose to crochet the sides together instead of sewing them. It feels sturdier.
Happy crafting!
