What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and out of control recently, so I welcome the opportunity to stop, take a deep breath, and think about what I’m thankful for:

[ul]
[li]good health[/li][li]loving family [/li][li]good friends[/li][li]a job I really do consider the coolest job in the universe[/li][li]a nice home to live in[/li][/ul]

Being sober.
Being still in love with my lovely wife.
Being sober.

The WryGuy doesn’t like his job much, but he has one - unlike his pal Peter who got laid off yesterday. WryGuy says suddenly, his job’s not so bad.

We’re all in good health, and have had no major medical emergencies this past year. We’ve also paid down our mortgage by more than half. My in-laws are starting to think very seriously of selling their much-too-big-for-them-to-maintain home and moving into a smaller apartment closer to us. My mom is doing well, financially, physically and emotionally - this is rare and to be considered nothing short of a miracle.

We have a wonderful, charming daughter who loves school. We have about a gazillion pets who routinely make our day with their antics. We have every necessity and enough luxury to make us feel very blessed indeed.

In addition, we have a tremendous group of friends, and for the first time, it’s a group of couples that we BOTH like both halves of - and as an added bonus, we like their kids, too.

We are blessed beyond belief.

heh
I was going to say how thankful I am for my good health, then my younger kid and I came down with the flu.
But truly my health is usually good, and for that I am so grateful.
Twickster, you really said it all for me in your post.

I went to bed all pissed off and grumpy last night because it was about to be Thanksgiving and I don’t get to see my family (who are far away) and I have to work tonight and blah blah blah.

I woke up this morning to the phone ringing. It was my ultra-cool lady friend.

“Are you sleeping?”

“Uh, sort of. What are you doing?”

“Standing on your front porch.”

She’d brought coffee, too. So we sat in bed and talked for about an hour. It was great. I’m extremely thankful for having her in my life.

Oh yeah, and even though I still have to work this evening (I’m at work right now), I’m thankful I have a pretty good job.
