What are YOU thankful for ?(hidden post party)

Yeah that’s right 500 posts big whoopty do, but I feel it had to be pointed out.

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody, For what are you giving thanks today???

I’m thankful that

My man loves me just the way I am (perfect of course)
my turkey is in the oven,my cupboards are full
my pies all turned out perfect, pumpkin, cherry and mince
no one in my family is sick
I love my job
too many blessings to count

We don’t celebrate thanksgiving here in Oz but I am thankful for:

The chance to be with my friends / family and let them know how much I love/care for them

The fact that my friends respect my decision not to discuss some issues with them and they love me all the same.

That I have the chance to live in a wonderful country that gives me the opportunity to be/do whatever I put my mind to.

I am thankful:

…for having a job that pays well with insurance, and one that is much less stressful than teaching.
…for family and friends about me.
…for my health (thanks to my insurance).
…for all the lessons (good and bad) I have learned through my life, making me what I am today.

…to whatever Higher Powers allowed me to be alive this day and every day.

Good for you.

Life. And my enemies.

That I have family that loves me, even though I’m not with them today.

That I have a roof over my head, food to eat, and decent clothing to wear.

That I have the chance to get an education.

That I exist in this unbelievably weird and fabulous universe.

And that a guy I have a major crush on has invited me over to his house later for food.

I’m not from a country that has this custom, but I think it’s a nice one, so what the hey.

I’m thankful for not living in Iceland any more.

I’m thankful for The Straight Dope, I can’t even remember what I read before it and it’s message boards.

I’m thankful for the existance of mild mind altering drugs, even though I only use one of them currently, alcohol.

I’m thankful for the fact that George W. Bush will either lose, or serve as a severely wounded president.

I’m also thankful for not being one of the vast majority of people born into poverty and without chance of a decent life.

“Raven is my middle name”

Geepers, I started crying when I thought of I that I am thankful for! I am thankful most of all for my healthy, happy, independent daughter; for my nice job and kind co-workers (even though I am new there); for living in a town & state that I love being in every day of the year. I have a lot to be thankful for.

Morrison – what’s wrong with Iceland?

Several people where I work are losing (or lost) loved ones in the past couple of weeks. Cancer, heart attack, car accidents, moms, dads, grandparents, spouses.

I’m thankful that almost everyone near and dear to me is healthy, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for 12-year-old grandson Jeremy, who’s in the middle of cancer treatments but seems to be doing just fine.

I’m thankful for

A good job
A mom who can cook a pretty good turkey, even though all the relatives are back east (we’re going to be eating turkey for a week.)
A great church that functions as my extended family.

I’m thankful for my adopted children (stuffed animals) and their assorted fathers
I’m thankful for Lucifer Bob Nothorian II and what’s he’s starting to mean to me
I’m thankful for my friends, all them, especially Rachel, Daniel, Russel, and Carlos
I’m thankful for my family and that we’re all relatively healthy and love each other
I’m thankful for my puppy dog, even though he isn’t dreadfully bright
I’m thankful for love, in any way shape or form, just that we all love each other and everyone deserves to love and be loved.
I’m thankful for the SDMB and all you wonderful people that have ever taken the time to listen to me

I am thankful for my family. Although I have to drive a bit to see them, it isn’t that far, and some people won’t get to be with their loved ones on the holiday.

I am thankful for my doctor. I went to him a several months ago with what I thought was a physical problem. He suggested that maybe it was not, and got me started on a treatment of antidepressants and therapy. If he hadn’t had taken the time to dig a little further, ask me questions and really listen to my answers, this holiday may have been miserable.

I am thankful for my dad & his wife. They called a few days ago and said “hey, since you’re coming down for dinner on Thursday, how about you just leave the kids here & let them spend the night?” Since I and my husband both have to work tomorrow, and the day care will be closed, that was really a question who’s answer required very little thought.

I am thankful for my mom and her SO, who I will be celebrating Thanksgiving with on Saturday. The only real difference between me and my mom is our age, and our hair color. When I was growing up, this was not always a good thing. Now that I’m an adult, I realize that this is a truly awesome thing. My mom totally rocks. And Mike, her SO, has a lot to do with it. She didn’t really come in to her own as a person until well after she and my dad divorced, and she hooked up with Mike. He’s amazing.

I am thankful for the SDMB. I have made more friends in the year & a half that I’ve been here than I ever did in my whole life. This is my sanctuary. When I need a little peace, I know I’ll find it here.

I’m thankfull that I’m free to completely ignore the question if I so choose, and to celebrate this fact I do so choose.

Happy 500, Mermaid.
