I see these threads pop up from time to time, but none lately, so here goes…
I’m thankful for my family; my wife, daughter and son have brought me fulfillment I never imagined possible. We’re all healthy, which I am immensely thankful for.
I’m thankful for my job. Corporate America chewed me up and spit me out (lay-off in July '04, then again in August '05), and I made a strategic move to a small company (less than 500 people). It was an adjustment, but I’ve been here 8 months; I just took a 1-week business trip to England and got in a long weekend of sightseeing in London on the company’s dime; two weeks ago, I got a 3.2% pay raise, and an office with a window.
I’m thankful that I have a nice roof over my head. Last year I managed to purchase my own home, so my children have their own yard to play in, complete with a swing set my in-laws and my mom chipped in for last summer as a gift for them. I never had a yard growing up; we lived in apartments.
I’m also thankful for this message board, bacon and NASCAR.
I’m thankful for, inspite of all the crap I went through as a kid, I managed to get myself into a good place to raise my kids to be decent, intelligent and wonderful people.
I’m thankful that I’ve had opportunities that I’ve been able to take advantage of and that there have been people who have had patience, understanding and compassion to help me through these opportunities.
I’m thankful that I’ve been able to find Plan B…and sometimes even out to Plan G if needed.
I’m thankful for my friends who have taught me the friendship is constructed and created by those involved.
I am thankful that I did not hurt my spine when I received a traumatic brain injury in an automobile accident and that in my recovery I have exceeded anything I had accomplished prior to the accident.
Right now I am thankful for my boss. We just had a very laidback but productive check-in and then gabbed about quilting for a while. She is very intelligent, gentle and respectful, and she thinks highly of me
And I am thankful for the splendid push sectional I had passed down to me from friends…what a wonderful nest it is!
In the last few years I had some major surgery and ended up with HUGE medical debt. Recently it got sorted out - well mostly - and is at a managable level.
I try to be thankful of a lot of things, so this moment’s thought is: I’m tahnkful that I have two dogs who I love to work with, who are a joy in any endeavor we attempt together.
My wife. She’s why I’m doing so well now, and she’s my reason for continuing to do so. And my job, which is what I’ve always wanted to do. And to the United States of America, for letting me come here to accomplish everything that I have so far.
I am thankful for my daughter, who has a smile that could light the world.
For my husband choosing us over drugs every day for almost 6 months (Friday)
For my dysfunctional family, who, when solidarity is needed, always comes through, when it isn’t, is at least a tad more normal than Sampiro’s.
For my mind: I love using it to understand this world, to understand others, to learn, oh to learn every day.
For Jezzie: The best dog I’ve ever had, I need to let you go soon, even if your Vet won’t do it, I’ll find someone that will. You will not suffer.
For Cathy: She who makes Pollyanna look like a manic-depressant. You are the silver lining.
For Al Gore: Thanks for the internet, buddy.
For Mr. Carson: What a man, what a friend. You are most certainly missed.
I am always thankful for my immediate family; parents, sisters, girlfriend and baby. Great people and I love them all. I’m also thankful that our cat Joe has bucked the trend for our cats to die early and young
In particular, I am thankful for the NHS, who took my girlfriend in and helped delivery our child (who had an awkward entry to this world)
I guess I should be grateful for everyone who invented/discovered the little take for granted things Penicillin, the World Wide Web etc too.
I am thankful that today I got to sleep in. I am also thankful for my marvellous family (both my parents, my husband, and my inlaws), the huge number of good books in the world, and the beautiful weather today.
