What are your D&D stats?

I don’t recall the exact table for strength, but I seem to recall that I’m a 6 (my bench press is about 60 lbs). And I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that I’m at least in the top 1 in 216 in intelligence, so I won’t feign modesty and just give myself the 18 int. I have a touch of hay fever an an alcohol intolerance, but no other health problems I know of, and a high pain tolerance and endurance, so I’ll say about 16 con. Dex is more tricky: My fine motor skills (threading a needle, typing, woodcarving, that sort of thing) are pretty good, but my gross motor skills (dancing, most sports, etc.) are in the basement. Since the game seems to value the latter more for non-rogues, I’ll say about 7 or 8. Charisma I’m not sure of, but definitely below average, judging from my track record on asking girls out. Probably around 6. And wisdom I don’t think that any person is qualified to recognize in himself, so I’ll just put an average 10 or 11 in that. Summing up,

Str 6
Dex 7 - 8
Con 16
Int 18
Wis 10 - 11
Cha 6

My alignment is neutral good, and my skills are mostly in the “Knowledge” family, specifically Physics, Mathematics, and Computers, with a few in Profession (teaching), Craft (sculpture and cooking), Tumbling, Survival, Rope Use, and Wilderness Lore. My class probably maps most closely to Wizard, though my brown belt and my Boy Scout years might qualify me for a level each in Monk and Ranger.

Checking the aforementioned Stat Generator, I got

Str 7
Dex 13
Con 12
Int 15
Wis 15
Cha 9

with the strength being the only score reasonably close to my self-assessment. I note that in each case except Wis (where I deliberately assigned myself an average score) the generator had me closer to the average.

Str: 10 I’m a big guy, but I’m out of shape.
Dex: 13 Good with the hands, bad with the feet.
Con: 14 Almost never get sick, never had any serious health problems, but out of shape.
Int: 16 Actually, I think it should be higher, but I’m correcting for ego.
Wis: 16 I’ve got pretty good common sense.
Cha: 8 Terribly shy in real life, and I stammer and mumble when I talk, so I usually don’t.

The test gives:

Str: 9
Dex: 10
Con: 10
Int: 12
Wis: 12
Cha: 8

Ouch. At least I was right about the charisma.

The answer really depends on what the stats mean. A stat of 10 is supposed to be “average” for a D&D character, but is it average in our society?

I’d rate myself thusly:
Str 10 (I’m reasonably strong, but in no way exceptionally so)
Dex 13 (I’m good at most physical things I put my hand to)
Con 10 (I used to take 100 and 200 mile bike rides, but I’ve let myself go)
Int 13 (I’m definitely brighter than the average person I grew up with)
Wis 8 (I’m a reckless driver, I have little motivation, etc)
Cha 10 (I’m good looking and people like me, but I fear them)

The test gives me the following results:
Str 9 (Benching 150 is below average? I must hang out with all the weaklings)
Dex 12 (Pretty close, I’ll take it)
Con 3 (WOOHOO! I WIN! Lowest Con yet reported. Yeah, I have asthma, but I’m still healthy and have good endurance)
Int 10 (I only have a high school diploma, but I lack higher degrees because I’m an unmotivated slacker, not because I found university coursework difficult)
Wis 11 (I’m observant, but I’m not sure I’m wiser than average)
Cha 11 (I guess looks are more important than my nervousness about meeting new folks)

I’d likely be a wizard or a ranger. And I’m probably neutral good, with a tendency towards lawfulness. I like tidiness and order in my personal life.

Since at the point that I hit terminal velocity falling from an airplane, about 11,700 ft, I automatically take no damage as long as I’m near a wall, I figure I’m a 2336th level monk.

STR: 8 - 98lbs with girly noodle arms
DEX: 14 - I could walk on a balance beam for miles
CON: 16 - Sick every two years or so, been in the hospital only twice in my life (day I was born and getting the tonsils out), and I’ve managed to keep down things that have had strong men sobbing in the bathroom for hours
INT: 12 - Rather crafty, but not exceptionally well-read
WIS: 12 - Observant, but not super-intuitive
CHA: 10 - Not horrid-looking, but not in the least bit imposing either

Alignment: Chaotic neutral. If I can get away with it, why not?

The bench press is a pretty poor measure of overall strength, and even if you’re going to use it, you’d need to scale the transformation differently. Here’s my take on a reasonable scale:

0-200: Use a different measure
201-400: 15
401-550: 16
551-700: 17
701+: 18

Of course, this refers to a bench in good form. Cheating and partial reps don’t count.

That’s still not as good a measure as leg and torso strength, which is going to matter much more in any reasonable situation.

STR = 8
INT = 13
WIS = 12
DEX = 7
CON = 15
CHA = 14 (declining as I age and become crotchety)

Alignment = Neutral Good
HP = 1 (I cry when I’m hit)
Class = Level 1 Ranger (see the stats :frowning: ) I should just bag it and go Cleric, but I’m not a believer.

No, no. Everyday schlubs in D&D have ability scores rolled from 3d6, which leads to an average of 10.5. D&D characters , though, generally roll from 4d6 and discard lowest (or some other slightly beneficial method), leading to an average that’s a little higher (the idea being that weaklings/idiots/klutzes are less likely to take up adventuring, so adventurers are self-selected to be a little above average).

And if we go with leg strength rather than arm strength, then I’d be a little higher, but leg strength would really only benefit encumberance limits, while arm strength is mostly what goes into the combat bonuses.

You’d be surprised how much hip & torso strength would go into fighting. The only move I can think of where it wouldn’t matter is if you were swinging a sword down from an overhead position, and even then that’s more upper back than arms.

I’ve done this before… because I’m a geek.

Str: 6
Dex: 6
Con: 5
Int: 18
Wis: 16
Cha: 12

At least I wouldn’t be a reroll by the books.

My Str and Con have gone down with age… but my Int and esp. Wis have gone WAY up.

I’d call myself:

STR: 10
INT: 15
WIS: 7 (little to no willpower)
CON: 7 (would’ve been higher until Grave’s Disease nearly put me in the ground)
DEX: 14 (still reasonably agile)
CHA: 12

And according to this, I’m apparently Chaotic Neutral (with leanings towards Evil?? Hey, I thought I was a nice guy!)

STR: 12 (higher if leg strength is considered!)
INT: 17
WIS: 13
CON: 11
DEX: 8
CHA: 11

Whatever.

From Sublight’s link:

Str: 15
Dex: 18
Con: 11
Int: 14
Wis: 12
Char: 14

Self-ratings:

Str: 13
Dex: 14
Con: 12
Int: 14
Wis: 14
Char: 16 (I’m better in real life; I promise)

Anybody know what this would make me? Some kind of cleric or something? A paladin? A law firm lackey?

. . . Please don’t let it be the last one.

fluiddruid?

You’re a Druid?

Funny.

You don’t look Druish!

Well, that link is blocked, but if it’s like others, it’s wildly inaccurate.

I had a DM once that assigned stats according to certain physical and psychological tests he would administer new players. He would armwrestle you, and time how long you could hold a (rather heavy) folding chair at arms length. He gave you roadside sobriety tests, asked you about your health history and your credit history. Quizzed you on your IQ. Tested the speed of your reflexes. Charisma was rather subjective, but then he could be fairly generous on that one without unbalancing play…

His idea wasn’t necessarily to make you roleplay yourself, but to keep stats to realistic numbers and distributions.

My stats came out thus:

Str: 12
Dex: 16 (a rockclimber’s balance and fast reflexes)
Wis: 12
Int: 18 (the only one he ever gave out)
Con: 14
Cha:13

I played a human mage to 5th level, and then changed class to thief. I also played Lawful Evil (but claimed to be Lawful Neutral to the other players).

Generator says:

Str: 9
Dex: 8
Con: 8
Int: 16
Wis: 14
Cha: 9

Realistically:
Str: 10
Dex: 6 (dismal reflexes, slightly subpar speed)
Con: 9 (frequently ill but high pain threshold)
Int: 18
Wis: 12
Cha: 7 (loner, occasional stammering, strong accent when worried)

I’d be lawful evil, probably a necromancer.

Stats generator give out:

Strength 11
Dexterity 10
Constitution 14
Intelligence 14
Wisdom 12
Charisma 9

Before doing it I rated myself:

Strength 10
Dexterity 9
Constitution 15
Intelligence 17 (hell I’m in the smartest 1%
Wisdom 10 (but say some pretty stupid things and are easy to whoosh)
Charisma 9 (no oil painting but charming!)

Alignment - Lawful Neutral

Strength 9
Dexterity 12
Constitution 10
Intelligence 12
Wisdom 11
Charisma 11

According to the link above:

STR - 6
DEX - 8
CON - 7
INT - 14
WIS - 11
CHA - 12

Pretty close… but I would be a reroll… HAH!

Ah yes, end of quarter waiting around until the cows come home. In my quest for entertainment to make the waiting go by faster I discovered via the link above:

Strength 17
Dexterity 18
Constitution 17
Intelligence 18
Wisdom 13
Charisma 13

By my own self-preception:

Strength 16 (maybe 17)
Dexterity 17 (20/15 vision, can see great at night, martial arts training, great hand-eye coordination, got an A in ballroom, but 18 is just ridiculously high, isn’t it?)
Constitution 17 (haven’t missed a day of work/school or been sick for 10 years)
Intelligence 16 (Old style english confuses me, so does case law with old-style writing)
Wisdom 16 (aren’t lawyers and judges naturally wise?)
Charisma 12 (I’m going to knock myself down two points since I’m not dating anyone and all the phone numbers I get don’t seem to pan out.)
