What are your favorite brands of...?

  1. Ketchup
  2. Laundry Detergent
  3. Mustard
  4. Pickles
  5. Sportswear
  6. Tires
  7. Televisions
  8. Hand tools
  9. Power tools
  10. Soda
  11. Pasta
  12. Deodorant
  13. Toothpaste
  14. Ice Cream
  15. Car

And next to each item, put a number between 1 to 10 on how devoted you are to the brand.

This is just for fun - I’m not analyzing markets or anything like that.

Me:

  1. Heinz - 10
  2. Tide - 7
  3. French’s - 3
  4. Cain’s - 8
  5. Under Armor - 5
  6. Bridgestone - 7
  7. Sony - 7
  8. Craftsman - 8
  9. DeWalt - 8
  10. Coke - 7
  11. Prince - 3
  12. Speedstick - 10
  13. AquaFresh - 8
  14. Turkey Hill - 8
  15. BMW - 8

For all of the food items I always buy the store brand and I don’t even really consider any other brands, so I guess that makes me a 10 for loyalty.

  1. Ketchup - I use generic mostly because I don’t use a lot of it.
  2. Laundry Detergent - Tide - 9.
  3. Mustard - French’s, and Grey Poupon - 8.
  4. Pickles - generic.
  5. Sportswear - it has brands? Seriously, the hubby likes UnderArmour.
  6. Tires - Goodyear - 7.
  7. Televisions - Mitsubishi - 9.
  8. Hand tools - the ones I have are mostly so old they don’t have recognizable brands anymore, but they’re Craftsman - 8.
  9. Power tools - Don’t really use them.
  10. Soda - Diet Coke, though I’m trying to break the caffeine addiction - 8.
  11. Pasta - Dried, whatever’s cheapest. Filled - probably Buitoni - 7.
  12. Deodorant - Right Guard - 9.
  13. Toothpaste - Colgage - 9.
  14. Ice Cream - More loyal to flavor than to brand. French vanilla.
  15. Car - Toyota - 8.
  1. Ketchup - Trader Joe’s Organic - 10
  2. Laundry Detergent - Tide. I think. - 2
  3. Mustard - for plain yellow, French’s - 3
  4. Pickles - John’s Butcher Shoppee, from the giant jar - 8
  5. Sportswear - Under Armour - 5
  6. Tires - I’m not even sure what’s on my car
  7. Televisions - Sony, because it’s what I have - 4
  8. Hand tools - not sure
  9. Power tools - black & decker - 4
  10. Soda - Coke - 4
  11. Pasta - Aldi brand (Fit & Active) whole wheat - 8
  12. Deodorant - Mitchum Smart Solid, unscented (sold with the men’s, but it’s basically unisex) - 10
  13. Toothpaste - Crest whitening - 6
  14. Ice Cream - Oberweis - 8
  15. Car - Chevy, probably because again, it’s what I have - 5

For all except fizzy drink it’s whatever’s cheapest (love an ice cold can of coke). My car = my legs; I’m quite attached to those so they get a 10.

Odd, the way you read my mind. I came in here to say “Whataburger ketchup, if the bastards would just bottle it!”

As it is, I stockpile the delightful little tubs in my fridge and always ask for extra.

I like store brands, and whatever is on sale. Ketchup is considered a beverage around here, so quantity is more important than quality… I am picky about mustard, especially Nance’s Hot and Mr. Mustard hot and sweet. “10”. Hot, grainy, or imported - I love my mustard…Sportswear? Like for exercising? Hanes, I guess. “8” … Soda - Diet Coke!.“10”… Deodorant - anything that doesn’t leave a white streak on clothes, and anything unscented. ( I hate deodorant with built in smells, it stinks like the cheap cologne from Bath and Body Works. Especially baby powder, what a dirty diaper stench that conjures up!)…Ice Cream - never found anything better than Wegman’s store brand vanilla, or runner up Edie’s double churned vanilla. “10”. (that’s for the now-reduced half gallon sizes for feeding a mob. Haagen Daz and Ben & Jerry’s have their place, too, but that’s for Mom only!)…I, unlike some people I know, have very weak brand loyalty. I know I’m paying higher prices for name brands to pay for the commercials.
