Sky blue, the deep blue sky of October. Spring green (with a touch of yellow in it).
My clothing - faded denim blue, mostly - chambray, for wearing around. For dressing up - any shade of gray (accented with any color). (No black, as I own a longhaired Himalayan cat that sheds 24/7. ) I do like white shirts and blouses and own about 50 in every style and fabric. Oh, and every earth tone - olive, khaki, stone, brown, rust - is slowly replacing the pale denim blue - I don’t care for bright colors in clothing any more, like fuschia, purple. kelly green. They remind me of matronly QVC sweatsuits, with sequins and teddy bears, that blare “look at me! I’m middle aged and I don’t care!”
Decorating - walls the palest gray, cream, apricot, sage green. Partly wallpapered incorporating these colors (NOT the ‘Southwest’ look, I don’t like that at all). I never get bored with this look and find it soothing…but - If I could redecorate I would like a minimal, crisp nautical look using navy blue, red and white - Ralph Lauren’s site makes me drool!
I don’t like red, orange, egg yolk yellow anywhere! I really despise royal blue, a cheap blue, the exact shade of the loathesome gym suits we had to wear in school looooong ago!
Clothing: deep reds and purples. Cranberry, wine, burgundy, violet, crimson, maroon, indigo, magenta. Deep green colors are second. For achromatic clothes, I prefer grey over black or white. (A dark charcoal, well-cut suit and burgundy shirt is one of my favorite combinations.) Overall, I look good in darker/deeper colors and sickly in most pastels and bright colors. I’ll probably change over time, though-- a few years ago, I was gothy and didn’t wear much besides black.
Cars: Depends on the type of car. Greys and blacks look great on luxury sedans, tuners that have well-done flashy colors (sparkly stuff that reminds me of 1970s fiberglass) can look good, too.
I’m partial to reds and oranges and most greens. Green is relatively new for me. There was a time I really disliked it. However, there are some very awesome greens out there these days.
My favorite shade of red is tomato soup.
i can’t get into blue these days. There are a few I don’t mind (the ones that lean toward turquoise-y shades).
Wearing: Black, blue, red, and brown–although I’ve been throwing purple, green, and yellow in there. I’m still dying for a good pair of fire engine-red pumps.
Decorating: Tough–I’d have to judge what room I was painting. A kitchen should be a warm colour like yellow or peach; a bathroom should be in cool colours like blue or white. My mum does brilliant work with contrasting colours and bright shades, though.
Generically: I like blues and greens, and darker shades of red and purple. Gold and silver are always good.
Garden: Anything goes, really.
Bed linen: Anything goes, really–except the puke green I once endured at camp. shiver
Overall favorite color: Green, every shade. I adore green. Second favorite: Red. This needs to be in the midrange, not leaning too heavily towards either blue or orange.
Favorites to wear: Dark or bright greens, turquoises, black, white and reds. (I do wear other colors, though.)
Favorites to decorate with: deep reds, greens and golds.
Favorites for garden flowers: Red, yellows, oranges, blues and dark purples, with a touch of white to rest the eye. I like vibrant colors in the garden, and avoid light pinks and pale purples.
Green is my favorite color. I live in the desert and see precious little of it. My wardrobe is almost all green, black, grey, and blue/gold (school colors, dontcha know that’s how I roll?) I tend to favor jewel tones.
I dislike yellow intensely*, but I like a few oranges (nothing beats Saltillo tile orange) and I’m picky about reds (must be deep and not blue-y or too orange-y). Blues and purples are liked almost as much as green though.
*however, yellow daffodils remain one of my favorite flowers.
My favorite colors in general are blue and green. I like to wear brown, black, and other darker colors. I cannot wear lighter colors like cream or beige with my skin tone, so I have to content myself with using them in decorating. I love reds and yellows in gardens.
My least favorite color is probably yellow. Some shades are all right, but most are just blech.
It seems that the favorite color of nearly everyone I know is blue. Is there any evidence that more people prefer blue or is it just a coincidence?
