What are your favorite colors?

Time for a “less-than-cosmic” topic:

What is your favorite color or colors?

Mine are red, gold, and white, in that order, like this nifty little Last.fm sig line I made for another forum.

Valete,
Vox Imperatoris

Red and Black, baby! And it has to be together. Red and Black.

I’ve never been good at these sort of questions. Favourite colours for what? It depends entirely on what I’m doing with them.

**Wearing? **
Black, green (most shades of green from lime to eucalyptus), brown, or purple.

**Decorating? **
Neutral plus any accent colour that takes my fancy.

My favourite neutral is from Porter’s Paints (Donkey Grey) and is right throughout my house, with feature walls in ‘Pumpernickel’. (But the website incorrectly shows pumpernickel as burgundy - it’s actually the colour they’re now calling ‘Voodoo’).

I’m currently accenting with lime and orange cushions in the lounge room, on my husband’s suggestion. Looks brilliant. I’ve also successfully toyed with metallics, bright purple, and emerald and ruby tones. (Not simultaneously!)

Just generically looking at a colour chart?
Yellow, violet, stormy blues. I also love metallic copper paint, but wouldn’t actually decorate with it.

Garden?
Lavender and pinky-greys on the front of the garden - red, white, orange and yellow on the back.

Bed linen?
Silver or gunmetal grey.

I’d be really interested to see how other people break their colour preferences down when it comes to context. Is it okay to semi-hijack and ask for elaboration in future responses, Vox Imperatoris?

Cheery yellow, followed by green.

Purple and green, either subdued, nearly white shades, or bold, dark blocks of it.

I mainly like the colors between 400 and 800 nanometers, myself.

Purples and blues.

Red. Particularly the richer reds, away from the orange-y end of the red spectrum.

Blues, greens, and violets. Particular faves are turquoise and periwinkle.

A year or so ago I was dying yarn with various strange dyes (a lot of kool-aid) and when I was done, looking at all the hanks hanging up I remarked "You know, these are all of my favorite colors. At which point my sister rolls her eyes and reminds me that they pretty much are all of the colors.

So I have to go with saying that all colors are wonderful. I think someone one told me my idea of color matching was “If there’s enough of them, they all match.”

Lavender and blue.

My least favorite color is green. I can’t really think of any context in which I would wear green, paint a wall green, or decorate with something green. My second least favorite color is orange (they’re pretty equal though; ugh, orange), but that’s probably from being conditioned to hate Auburn fans.

I don’t actively dislike them, but pink and purple are for girls, and I stand by that statement. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll do the elaboration too:
Overall:
Red. I love red! Arbitrarily, it is definitely my favorite color, although it is often too vivid for the purpose at hand.

Wearing:
I pretty much always wear khaki pants, and my favorite (polo) shirt colors are red, white, black, or different combinations of the above. Yellow and blue shirts are also okay, but I do much prefer “warm” colors to “cool” ones.

Decorating:
For more laid-back things, I tend to like a combination of soft gold-ish yellows, brown, and black (see, I *can *name all the colors in my bedroom :p). For more vivid things, I like red, black, and white.

Bedsheets:
Gold or white sheets with a brown or black comforter.

Cars:
Ostensibly red, but relatively few (and all expensive) cars look good in red, plus it makes you look like you *think *you’re hot stuff. Practically, in most situations I would choose black.

Red, yellow, blue.

In photography though I often prefer black and white.

Dark shades of anything, especially earthy shades of brown, green, purple, etc.

Not a fan of bright lurid colours, and I hate pastels.

I do like sparkly things, though.

Blue would probably be my favourite. Yeah, that good old standby. Unfortunately, it’s also the colour of the uniform I wear nine days a fortnight, so it’s a colour I seldom wear on my days off.

My unfavouritest colour is orange. Blech.

Purple, pink, and blue. Yeah, it’s this girly part of me that won’t die. I love bright colors.

I used to wear them, but I’ve actually found neutral browns and khakis and deep reds (autumn colors) to look better on me. So for wearing I’d have to go with the earthy tones.

For cars, I love that champagne red, and there’s a deep sparkly tangerine that looks good too.

My favorite color overall is dark, dark blue, almost black. If I ever get to redo my kitchen it will be in that blue and a light putty gray.

For wearing:
Blue (a lot of variously faded denim), black, purple (but not lavender), white. Absolutely no green, orange, yellow, or red.

Most hated color:
Burgundy/cranberry/wine.

Decorating:
Stone colors, grays and browns, with blue and green accent colors. Greens are difficult and require significant and lengthy pondering before I’ll accept them.

Dream car:
Midnight blue metallic 1969 Mustang.

Garden:
Anything goes. All colors are welcome in the garden.

Black
Greys/silvers
“watery” colors (ocean blues, ocean greens)

Do not like oranges or golds unless it is an accent color. Cannot wear this color either - I’m too pale and it makes me look jaund-ish

dream car?
1969 convertible GTO metallic silver!

Green, and my preference is very marked.

Generally speaking, I like all bright and saturated colors. I love cobalt blue glassware. And that cranberry glassware. Pretty much every color that carnival glass comes in. I love the bright colors they use in Mexico and Guatemala.

I dislike muted, grayed colors that look like fungus. What’s the point?

Least favorite is probably burnt orange.

Anthing purple.
