What are your favorite Fallout New Vegas mods?

You can install a mod at any time as long as it doesn’t conflict with something and crash your system. My advice on mods is to have a good saved game before you mod, one that you can always go back to if the mod doesn’t work out. You can also uninstall mods anytime, though that can have some quirky effects…and can lose you a ton of stuff (like, if you put a bunch of stuff in your underground hideout mod and then turn it off, all that stuff in there would disappear).

ETA: Of the mods I’ve installed so far that have worked (the Area 51 mod is the only one that I can’t get to load), I haven’t noticed any undue destabilization of the game so far. The game occasionally locked up or crashed before I added any mods, and it still does…but it doesn’t seem to have gotten worse. I remember when I added the underground hideout mod (near the Air Craft Carrier) in Fallout 3 that it seemed to seriously destabilize the game, but this time it seems a lot more stable.

I’m about to make my first run through of New Vegas. I don’t want anything that massively changes the gameplay yet - I want to make my first run through using the vanilla content/mechanicsetc. But anything that doesn’t change the fundamentals, like graphical improvements or interface improvements or bug fixes I can use from the first run. Any suggestions?

This one is pretty good. It’s just a UI mod so won’t affect game play. I haven’t tried it but another poster recommended it in another thread.

ETA: Actually, sohvan recommended it above as well.

All right, this is probably a dumb question, but I have to ask.

Is there any way to use mods or cheats if you play Fallout on a console (Xbox 360)? What if I saved my game to a flash drive and then plugged that flash drive into my PC – could I edit the files that way?

Resurrecting this thread in case anybody is interested in still talking about it.

I’m playing modded NV instead of FO4 for now. It was a little hard to get in to, but with Mod Organizer it’s really a snap.

My objective is really to get all I can out of this game. So with all the mods out there, if there’s a favorite please suggest it.

I am currently running:

New Vegas script extender
Project Nevada
Nevada Skies
New Vegas anti crash
Electro city
Wasteland flora overhaul - fertile
Populated casinos
Nv interiors
Goodsprings shack
Conelrad radio
Centred 3rd person camera
AWOP
NMC texture pack - small
Automated vending machines
Niner - companion
Weapon mod expansion
Shiloh color pip boy map/icons
Inventory sorter
Extended map markers
EVE

After the umpteenth time I scaled a mountain just to get a “Nope” invisible wall at the peak preventing me from crossing, I downloaded an invisible wall remover to open up the map and make it playable. Map walls and walls preventing you from hitting glitches remain but the “let’s corral the player this way” nonsense walls are gone.

I love conalrad radio too.

I was digging it, it hyped over two hours of new music and broadcasts…but I keep hearing the same songs. Possible that it starts the playlist At the beginning every time?

I added EVE last night but I haven’t gotten it running yet. It’s conflicting with something and crashing during the credits. I thought i patches for PN and WME, so there must be another it’s conflicting with.

Gonna have to get rid of those invisible walls, too.

What someone needs to do is stitch all of the Fallout game worlds together to do away with the invisible walls. Man, wouldn’t that be something!!

There’s this, anyway:

I figured out my problem with EVE…had the version for all DLC and I didn’t have any of it installed. Works fine now, even though I only have the laser pistol to experiment with new effects.

Bumping this for my own amusement!

I only have about 20 hours in this (modded) playthrough, but damn it’s amazing.

My favorite mods:

Nevada Skies! Holy cow, it wouldn’t surprise me if a good hour or two of that 20 hours has been just gaping at the beautiful sky, or sitting on a hill watching a rainstorm. Between the weather and the texture patch, it’s a wonderful game to look at.

It also contributed to my favorite experience yet…as I left Primm on the road to Mojave Outpost, a huge dust storm blew up and I fought my way through that with senses dulled. Getting up to M.O. and seeing all the NPCs crouching and taking shelter from the storm was the icing on the cake.

NMC’s Texture Pack (small): makes things pretty. I was at the Primm Outpost when I realized that even ammo cans look better.

EVE: much cooler explosions, better ( and much cooler) energy weapon effects, nicer iron sights.

Electro City: lights all over! I don’t care how realistic it is, the new lighting is awesome.

AWOP: tons of new locations. Usually a play through when I see an undiscovered location carat I can kind of remember what’s there. With AWOP, not so much! New surprises, very well- designed and fleshed out locations. I don’t have near enough time to completely search them…I have been going a few levels down/in, encountering ANOTHER door and just turning back.

If i understand right, much of the subsurface locations in AWOP are connected.

Existence 2.0 Radio: has quickly replaced Conelrad for indoor and subsurface soundtrack. Excellent horror-type soundtrack is perfect ambiance. DJ’d by a robotic voice that seems mildly…disturbed.

Fertile Wasteland: Freakin plants! Much more fun that blasted scrawny trees and scrub brush. I justify it by believing that climate change had produced a wetter and more fertile southwest.

Companion Niner: he’s a hoot.
