What are your favorite songs that begin with the letter H? See rules in OP {final poll added}

Yes, assuming the person who listed a song as an alternate did not need it to complete their 5.

mmm

But those are two different versions, the original Velvet Underground’s and Lou Reed’s solo version from his 1974 live album “Rock’n’Roll Animal”, which @Pardel-Lux explicitly mentioned. And alternate versions were eligible in these threads.

I agree with your interpretaion of the rules, but as mmm chose the version I suggested I believe it is up to @Baal_Houtham to complain, not me.

Head Over Heels - Tears For Fears
Heaven Is A Place On Earth - Belinda Carlisle
Heaven (Must Be There) - Eurogliders
Ha Ha Said The Clown - Manfred Mann
Hold Me Now - Thompson twins

Alt:
Hang On Sloopy - The McCoys

Sorry, I disagree. Different versions of the same song are allowed only if they are performed by different artists. The difference between the VU version and the Lou Reed version is that there are different musicians behind Reed.

In other words, for this exercise these are close enough to being the same artist to allow only one. Both versions of the song, to me, are all Lou.

mmm

Ok, accepted, your thread, your rules.

Hold On - Ian Gomm

Hourglass - Squeeze
Hold Me - Fleetwood Mac
Hey Bulldog - The Beatles
Hell - Squirrel Nut Zippers
Happy Together - The Turtles

I’m not sure whether I like this or not. It makes it harder to keep track of which songs have and have not been nominated, and I fear some may fall through the cracks because people will think they’ve already been nominated when they’re really just an unused alternate. So I’m not going to suggest an alternate, because I checked and am pretty sure my five haven’t been mentioned yet.

Head Over Feet - Alanis Morissette
House of Bamboo - Southern Culture on the Skids
Hurt - Johnny Cash (Claiming this one since @Dogginit moved it to an alternate)

My alternate: Hash Pipe - Weezer

I’m sure “House of Bamboo” won’t get many votes, but it’s a fun song. You should listen to it. And to Southern Culture on the Skids in general.

Happy - Pharrell Williams
Home Again - Carole King
Homeward Bound - Simon and Garfunkel

I think that all my other choices have already been mentioned above. But I may remember another one or 2.

Mr. Boink raises a good point, one that I had not considered.

I am seriously re-thinking the change.

mmm

A Hard Day’s Night – The Beatles

Harvest Moon – Neil Young

Heart it Races – Dr. Dog

Here, There & Everywhere – The Beatles

How Deep is Your Love – Bee Gees

You can blame me for that rule (note the poll on it last I checked was tied)-I just wanted to find a happy medium between “anything goes” and “you cannot suggest anything to other posters”…

Perhaps set up a different thread for suggestions? People could read it or not as they wish, and it wouldn’t interfere with searching through the thread for duplicates.

I’m not seeing many downsides, though I haven’t thought about it much.
