I agree. It helps that they’re both N songs.

No Roots – Alice Merton
Nice one! I’m not used to being beaten to the punch on songs this recent.
Everyone who does not know this tune should seek it out immejiately.

Nutrocker - Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Natural Woman - Aretha Franklin
Neutron Dance - Pointer Sisters
Nothing From Nothing - Billy Preston
Night And Day - Frank Sinatra

It’s on my list.
Not one of my five, but “Naacho Naacho” deserves a mention not for the song but for the epic cinematic dance number it’s from. RRR really is just excessive in every way.
The Needle and The Damage Done - Neil Young
Never Say Never - Romeo Void
Nightlife - Wanda Jackson (the best version of Willie’s song)
Nothin’ - Townes Van Zandt
Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out - Bessie Smith
No Trains To Heaven - Be Bop Deluxe
Nuclear Burn - Brand X
Never Understand - Jesus and Mary Chain
Night Shift - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Never Let Me Down Again - Depeche Mode
Nobody Does it Better - Carly Simon
(probably the funniest Bond theme)
New Kind of Kick - The Cramps
The Needle and The Damage Done - Neil Young
Hehehe, I wanted to pair this with “Never Let Me Down Again” as a depressing drug 2-fer, but you posted while I was composing mine.
Nothing From Nothing - Billy Preston

Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) - The Beatles
Never Ever - All Saints
Man, I love this song. I already wasn’t in the market anymore for the boy/girl group fad in the nineties, but this is a solid soul classic.
Me too. In fact there’s a couple here that fall into the category of “I hate songs like that!” but they’re just so goddamn good that they’re Hors catégorie, as it were. The other is Nightshift - overproduced sweet soul? No thank you - but it’s wonderful anyway.
j
I also like Nightshift. I even like Bruce Springsteen’s recent cover. (I liked his whole soul cover album, but I know that I’m quite alone in that. The reviews all were bad)
From what I remember Springsteen’s cover didn’t add a lot. I’ll take another listen.

Yes, but do you remember what other song it’s based on?

Nope, had no idea that it was based on another song.
