What are your favorite songs that begin with the letter N? See rules in OP: Tiebreaker Poll Added

I know what you mean, I have my guilty pleasures, too. I was this close to voting for “YMCA” in the Y thread…

If you Iisten to the opening section, ignoring the spoken words and instead listening to the slow piano melody, Amazing Grace emerges.

Wow, I’ve never noticed this, but after you mentioned it, it became apparent in the first notes.

ETA: or is it possible that the radio edit omitted that long, slow intro and that’s the reason I never noticed it?

I always heard the spoken opening, but it may have been cut for length.

That said, I don’t recall anyone else ever mentioning this. It’s just something I noticed.

No Expectations - Johnny Cash
Novocaine For the Soul - The Eels
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
Nothing Man - Pearl Jam

New York Buildings - Fruit

New York State of Mind - Billy Joel

No One Like You - Scorpions

Nuages - Django Reinhardt

Nature’s Way - Spirit

No No Song - Ringo Starr

Nickel Song - Janis Ian

No Excuses - Alice In Chains

You might need to pick another. Post #14

Made especially ironic by the peppy surface optimism in the Mode cut. [Note I hate metaphorical drug references even more than I hate metaphorical sex ones, but that’s for the Hate Threads…]

Never - Heart
Never Say Goodbye - Bon Jovi
No One Is To Blame - Howard Jones
Nothing Without Love - Nate Reuss
No Body, No Crime - Taylor Swift

Uh uh.

mmm

Nothing Lasts - Steve Miller Band

Nantes - Barbara (one of the most heart-breaking songs I know, a song about forgiving the unforgivable)
No Time to Die - Billie Eilish
No Milk Today - Herman’s Hermits
Nuages - Django Reinhardt
Nikita - Elton John

Barbara is one of the great voices, yet practically unknown in the United States. It is a shame, that more haven’t been exposed to her songs.

But you whiffed on Nuages. It’s already been nominated (post #47)

I prefer the This Mortal Coil cover.

Even in the French-speaking world, she stood in the shadows of Brel, Brassens and Ferré for decades. Her talent has only recently been getting some recognition, thanks to The Voice-type shows.

Again ! Of course, that’s only one I didn’t check…

Okay then. Let’s go with:

Never Will I Marry - Nancy Wilson, Cannonball Adderley.

Sublime.

I can’t listen to individual songs on that TMC album - it has to be the whole thing or nothing. It all sort of flows as one big work.
