Hot For Teacher
None; I prefer silence so I can concentrate on what I’m doing or think about something else. I’ve never understood why anybody wants a soundtrack to their life.
I also go musicless, but in the spirit of the thread: “You’re the Best”
When I was in high school, I used to fill my MP3 player with Britney Spears and run and run- thinking, “Ok, she’s so hot! She works out way more than this!”
Of course, considering her current state, that’s not as realistic of a goal :).
Has anyone ever told you that you are a strange, strange person?
Mine is a dirty little secret, since I hate anything remotely resembling Disco. It’s I’ve Got the Music in Me by KeKe Dee. (blush)
Mine are rather skewed as I work out at this gym and use a brass pole instead of a treadmill. Anyhow, my current faves are:
“Only” by Nine Inch Nails
“Crazy Bitch” by Buckcherry
“Cherry Pie” by Warrant
“You give love a bad name” by Bon Jovi
“What goes around” by Justin Timberlake
“Fever” by Peggy Lee
Breathe by Prodigy.
“Come play my game, inhale, exhale, c’mon breathe with me!”
Almost daily. But I don’t think what I described above made me any different than the vast majority of 16 year old girls.
“Let There Be Rock” by AC/DC, off their double live at Castle Donnington album. It’s long, about 12 minutes, and has a great progression for running - starts off good and then builds to a crescendo. I try and key it up towards the end of a long run.
I prefer stuff like that for working out - hard and fast, keeps me upbeat and if I can sing along (silently if I’m in a gym, I don’t annoy others) then I’m working at a good aerobic level.
The vast majority of 16 year old girls choose running music according to the fitness level of the singer so that the music itself becomes a reminder that they are not working out as hard as the previously mentionned singer?
16 year old girls are strange, strange people.
ps: Not that there is anything wrong with strange. I like strange. Strange is interesting.
pps: Not that I like 16 year old girls and find them interesting. God forbid.
ppps: I’ve confused myself. Someone save me!
“Crash” by Methods of Mayhem
“RPM” by Sugar Ray
“Like a Prayer” by Rufio
They’ve got great tempos for running.
Heh, I was just thinking about this a few hours ago. I’m starting to work out again to get in (slightly better) shape for a hiking trip next month. Listening to fun, fast-paced music makes a huge, HUGE difference on whether I enjoy/tolerate my work out.
Some great workout tracks I played tonight:
Soft Cell - “Tainted Love”
Richard X ft. Kelis - “Finest Dreams”
Rachel Stevens - “Funky Dory”
Inspiral Carpets - “Weakness”
Adam & The Ants - “Stand And Deliver”
X-Ray Spex - “Art-I-Ficial”
Also, “Ball And Chain” by XTC worked surprisingly well.
“The Moil” - Galactic. If you don’t have this on your Gym mix you need to go out and get it now. I will personally give you the dollar if you are unsatisfied. Provided that you personally can find me.
The Chemical Brothers - pretty much the only time I listen to their albums, but good uptempo stuff.
Other than that it’s a lot of classic rock, modern rock, – Exit Music (For a Film)? how’d that get in there. That’s what I can do tonight, update my Gym Mix.
LCD Soundsystem released a track for Nike last year titled “45:33” (it’s actually 45 minutes and 58 seconds long). It was intended be to used as a workout track. I haven’t yet exercised to it, but I’d like to try. It’d just be easier if the song was called “15:33.”
I can heartily recommend the soundtrack of “Pirates of the Caribbean” - there’s nothing like jogging along imagining you’re on deck alongside Johnny Depp. That, and it’s got faster and slower parts, great for intervall speeds.
Playlist “Motivation” on my ipod includes “Hakuna Matata” (hey, I like soundtracks) and “Don’t stop me now” by Queen.
The top ten in no order on my iPod right now are
My tastes are eclectic to say the least!
When did he do that cover? I might have to get me a copy.
Unexpectedly, the Michael Jackson song Man In The Mirror came on my iPod shuffle one day as I struggled to push myself to finish my treadmill run, and I have to say it was a pretty good boost.
