What's your favorite workout music?

I need some great treadmill music to keep me motivated - what’s your favorite song to run to? Any and all suggestions would be great!

Any kind of dance/techno music.

It might not be to everyone’s taste, but I came across cellist Zoe Keating by way of a Radiolab episode, and I find that a lot of her stuff has a great beat for running to.

(Edit: As well as just being generally gorgeous.)

Jogging this thread over to Cafe Society.

I quite like Daftpunk for this purpose - that live show (Alive) in particular.

Yeah, but my playlist is also somewhat eclectic. Few songs that always show up on my running playlist (in no particular order):

[ul]
[li]The Prodigy - Run With the Wolves This is my goto song when I’m running out of steam and need a bump. I never stop during this song no matter how much my lungs feel like they’re going to explode. Actually, I have lots of The Prodigy on my playlist.[/li]
[li]Lo Fidelity Allstars - Battleflag[/li]
[li]Apollo 440 - Stop the Rock[/li]
[li]The Crystal Method - Blunts and Robots Great weekend long run song.[/li]
[li]Fatboy Slim - Funk Soul Brother Pretty good song for fartleks.[/li]
[li]Incubus - Megalomaniac[/li]
[li]Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds[/li]
[li]Muse - Supermassive Black Hole[/li]
[li]P!nk - Get the Party Started Don’t judge me. It’s about my attitude walking out the door. :p[/li][/ul]

Some classics:

[ul]
[li]AC/DC - Thunderstruck[/li]
[li]Deep Purple - Burn Another good one for keeping up the pace and ekeing out the last of my effort.[/li]
[li]Led Zeppelin - Communication Breakdown[/li]
[li]Guns N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle[/li]
[li]The Cult - Love Removal Machine[/li]
[li]B-52s - Rock Lobster - I can’t help it, but I always sing this one out loud breathlessly while bopping my head. It probably sounds terrible. :o[/li]
[/ul]

There’s a lot more, but there you go.

That’s some good stuff!

Take a good look, okay?

Don’t just close it out! These guys have helped me keep fit for 15 years (and no, I am not affiliated) and I love the music!

Quasi

When I go to the track, I listen to a potent mix of thrash, hardcore and death metal. Ya know, Slayer, Hatebreed, Exodus, Madball, Amon Amarth, Every Time I Die, shit like that.

For fun sometimes I’ll throw in some doom (Electric Wizard, YOB) or some grindcore (Bolt Thrower, Iron Monkey) or deathcore (Chelsea Grin, Trigger The Bloodshed).

The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible.

It’s not conventional but it keeps the car running.

The Jonny Quest Theme, as covered by The Reverend Horton Heat.

I use a stationary bike; the tempo may be a little too high for a treadmill. But I swear, if that song was long enough I could win the Tour de France.

Laibach, “Let It Be”

Early Sepultura.

That is all.

Personally I listen to a wide variety depending on the mood of the day, from prog rock, to blues grass, to blues, to medieval, almost all by way of free podcasts and an internet radio app that a thread here recommended to me called TuneIn Radio. Specific for running I will sometimes do the MotionTraxx podcasts. The Best Radio You Have Never Heard podcasts have never failed to be good to work out by, and good music to boot (in comparison to MusicTraxx which works very well for exercise but I’d never listen to otherwise).

But today I am really looking forward to those Zoe Keating albums I downloaded!
