Fairly moderate support; closer to your last example than to your first.
As in repressed memories that have subsequently been recovered? I know there are repressed memories – there are some episodes in my life that others remember, but which I cannot remember at all. (And no alcohol is involved! Not that kind of memory blank!) So far, though, I’ve never been able to get those memories back.
Me too…
Not so good, as there is still water circulation at the bottom of the trenches. The waste would end up spreading to all the seas. If you could find an active subduction zone, and drop in waste that has been securely encapsulated, you might have a point, but even the most active subduction zone might “erode open” again, exposing the capsules. So…Nuclear Power, yes! But wastes should go in deep caves, not in the ocean.
I agree with this. I do agree that this is an unpopular opinion (unfortunately, since we’re going to need lots of power and nuclear plants don’t get built overnight and research into making them better and safer is probably suffering from the lack of public support for them).
Hey now. That’s just crazy talk. You don’t like lamb?
Admittedly I come from New Zealand, where sheep are literally* key to its economy, and grew up on the stuff, but it is utterly inescapably, most assuredly delicious, which even vegetarians agree on.
I agree with most of what you wrote, though I like some superhero movies, and most SF. Paris Hilton and Linsay Lohan should never be allowed in front of a movie camera though.
I think all PC should be banned and anyone advocating anything PC should be put in stocks and have small children hit them with sticks.
PS I have never heard anything Rush made, so can’t comment.
You always hear servers say something to the effect of “Everyone should have to wait tables for a year, then they’d know how hard it is and would never be rude to a waiter/waitress and would always tip at least 37%.”
I think all waitstaff should have to put in 60 hour weeks working 3rd shift loading packages into semi trailers for 6 months, so they know what a hard job actually is. Also, the first day of training should begin with a module called “Check Splitting 101 - It’s Really Not That Fucking Hard”
As long as we’re veering into “if I ruled the world” territory:
Anyone who protests against nuclear energy should have their electricity cut off; and then when they demand it be turned on again have to specify exactly how they expect the electricity to generated. If they name solar or wind they get charged the special “non-subsidized” rate that represents how much it actually costs.
I’m very cool with that, as long as all generating methods are similarly unsubsidized. For example, no more use of public lands, waters, or air for the disposal of any dangerous byproducts. No more public monies to secure or transport fuel supplies. So forth.
I hate Game of Thrones. I call it Game of Rape. It’s the most ridiculously misogynist piece of crap show I have ever seen. Watching it makes me feel physically ill. Also, it’s shit. On every possible level. It literally makes me embarrassed for humanity that it this show is so well liked.
I once voiced my opinion aloud in a room full of people. I don’t think I will do that again.
Oh, I thought of another unpopular opinion of mine - dogs should be outlawed as pets in large communities. They’re far too intrusive on everyone else, since we rely on the dog owners to not let their dogs affect other people, and dog owners suck at that.
Pot should be legal and treated like alcohol. (eg. no toking in public, no driving while high.)
ADD/ADHD is highly over-diagnosed and over-medicated and is a problem simply because kids aren’t allowed to just go out and play like we were back in the day. Staring at screens all day have overstimulated their little brains and they don’t know what to do with themselves so they act out. I actually think there’s no such thing as ADD/ADHD and that it’s a cop-out for shitty parenting - not actually teaching your kids how to behave.
Yes. For instance, choosing one time of day for a ceremony over another is considered by most to be a minor decision.
Saying “Sagittarius is on the cusp so today is a good day to nuke the Russkis” would be a major world affecting decision. Do you have any examples of major world affecting decisions like that Reagan made based on astrology?
No, but any adherence to such utter tripe that it reflects poor reasoning skills and a total lack of respect for logic, evidence, and science. Neither you, nor I know how many decisions Regan based on the stars; the admission that some were is evidence of a disconnect with reality.
