Just realized you can make your own radio station and have it randomize your music and play radio clips in-between. Great feature when nothing else is on the radio.
I kind of love this game and I am surprised because my initial impression was not great. I think the opening hour or so was really crappy, but now that I have all three characters and full access to the world, it’s a lot of fun.
Yesterday, I grabbed a car and drove around the edge of the entire map, cutting through a bit to map out some interiors. I used an online copy of the printed map and had fun just cruising around.
It’s a hoot to play, though the comedy the game inserts into missions, etc., is a bit of a misfire most of the time. Still, it’s a great game.
I hope they make a GTA VI at some point, though they are obviously not that interested in doing so. It’s been almost 8 years apparently and this game is coming out on its third Playstation.
GTA VI and Elder Scrolls VI seem like they are never coming out.
I don’t think it has had significant updates on PC (though you can find high quality texture/reflection mods). I see it used all the time in “low spec gaming” style videos as a game to test older hardware on and it still performs fine. With mods, the cars look really nice but the character/NPC models are still ten year old console-based models.
Considering how much of a cash cow GTA V has been online, I’d be surprised if there isn’t a GTA VI already in production.
All the updates to the game have all been to the online mode, and there was a major content drop as recently as this summer. Which is pretty good for an eight-year-old game, I think you’ll agree.
OK, so I stole a great car and took it to the LSC car place and added a bunch of improvements.
How do I store this car so I won’t lose it? It says park it in my garage at home, but I do that and no indication arrives that the game will “remember” that car now.
I am playing as Michael and parked my new car in the garage at his house. Uh, so I can keep it now? Will it warp back there if I run off without it?
The only cars that respawn (as far as I know) are Michael’s, Trevor’s and Franklin’s usual cars, as noted by Dark_Sponge above.
I believe I just wasted tons of money on a car I’ll likely lose. Why even allow me to do all these upgrades? Annoying.
Yeah, finding ways to make you waste your money is the one enduring annoyance of the game. Online is even worse in some ways, but they at least let you keep your cars. They just make the new ones stupidly expensive, and you can’t test drive them to see if they’re even worth it.
If you were interested in the street racing missions (I wasn’t), you could have a souped-up car to use for racing only (where it would be less likely to get destroyed).
To answer your question about garages: any car you park in a garage shouldn’t despawn, although I think I have lost vehicles when I tried overstuffing a garage (e.g. a car and two motorcycles jammed into a 1-car garage). Also, I once tried parking a tank in a large garage and it sadly vanished.
OK, I’ll park my neat vehicle in one of the garages I have. It needs to have a message pop up that says, “This car is in your garage. It will be here when you return,” so you know the game has registered that it is there.
Right now, it just closes the garage door on it and you are kind of stuck hoping it is saved.
I continue to play the story missions and then drive around doing random stuff. I’m playing the stock market after Assassination missions, but it makes me nervous because sometimes it takes awhile for my stock to go up.
If this game had a “give me $10,0000,000” cheat, I’d use it on each character just to have it over with. I don’t really get paid that much throughout(except heist #1 that paid out out a ton), but it would be nice to get some serious cashflow going.
There is a nifty little glitch (unless it’s been patched) that allows Trevor to walk right on to the military base and fly away with a fighter jet. He can even store it in the hangar near him if he owns it. Spoiler spoiled upon request.
(If Trevor ever crashes the jet, it’s gone,)
The heists and the storyline are where the money is at.
True, but by the time you really have a boatload of money, the main storyline is almost over.
Yeah, but the last couple of heists have not payed out immediately the way the jewelry store heist did. There were hitches in the heists(intentional, story-wise ones) that made it so we don’t keep getting massive payouts.
Anyway, it’s fine. I guess I should be sleeping in beds to make time pass all the time and get major stock boosts from my investments.
As noted earlier, there aren’t really a lot of super-exciting things to buy with money. You can buy businesses and that sometimes unlocks missions, but most of the business-related missions that I saw were pretty generic (e.g. “kill some guys outside the business” or “drive a truck from point A to point B”).
I’m about 24-25 hours into the game and have done about 50-55 story missions and messed around quite a bit as well.

Flying is terrible on the PC. I can fly helicopters OK, but airplanes are not working with keyboard and mouse. I mean, I guess I should dedicate myself to practicing them, but I am not a huge fan. I think it needed reworking or I need to get a controller or joystick to appreciate them. I had a plane mission section that just infuriated me, and not because I can’t do what it wants, but because the controls were nuts.

Yes, it grew on me a lot. I think the opening hour is bad in a different way than RDRD2, which also had a very rough opening. Once you get your main guys and the world is fully open, it’s a great game. I’m not sure about 10/10, but it is a great game. Lots of fun details. It’s even fun to listen to conversations on the street.
Anyway, I have to admit, it has really grown on me a lot and I’m having a blast.
Are you implying that flying is not terrible when playing on a console? Because I would dispute that.
I was trying to picture it in my head. Does it use the sticks to fly? Left for ascend/descend and right for turning?
It’s a mess no matter what. They did not make it adequate. I hated anytime a helicopter or plane showed up. Lord help me land!!!
I am looking roughly 80-85% done with the main quests, I think. I have a couple big heists left.
I am doing a bunch of sidequests now too and am at about 28 hours total.
Skip the search for the sunken submarine parts side quest. It’s a tedious few hrs that you won’t get back.
