I think I have a 2-way tie.
I’ve seen ALL 6 times, and bad religion 6 times.
I think I have a 2-way tie.
I’ve seen ALL 6 times, and bad religion 6 times.
Allman Brothers – 4 times
Stones 5 time and ZZ Top 6. (twice together, which leads me to my favorite man-on-the-street quote heard over the radio…“F*ck the Stones man, I’m here to see ZZ Top”.)
Leaving out local bands, I’ve seen Pantera 7 times, and Mucky Pup more times than I can remember.
Cowboy Mouth - 11 times
Rush - 10 times
Mary Prankster - 8 Times
Led Zeppelin and it’s derivatives (eg Page & Plant etc) 12 times
Richard Thompson About the same
And simply because they played every bloody festival I went to as a kid; Hawkwind about a million times (and they were rubbish everytime)
I’ve seen REM a dozen or so times, but it was at a small local club called the Milestone, before they were famous. I guess that counts.
I’ve seen the Cows sixteen times over the course of about nine years. They broke up a few years ago.
Some runners up:
Jesus Lizard, nine times
Shellac, seven times
Helmet, six times
Fugazi, six times
Didjits, six times
Godbullies, five times
Steel Pole Bath Tub, five times
Hammerhead, four times
Rocket from the Crypt, four times
Chokebore, four times
Brainiac, four times
This is also leaving out local bands. In writing this it makes it pretty obvious that I don’t go to shows as often as I used to. Sigh.
I’ve seen Bif Naked three times this year, and I’m debating whether or not I want to go later this month. She puts on a good show, but this time it’s in a venue where a pit bouncer forced me to sit in my chair instead of dancing in the aisle…
I think that makes 6 Bif concerts so far, if you include the stadium shows.
I saw the Grateful Dead somewhere between 60 and 70 times between 1982 and 1993. Some shows were spectacular, some shows were mediocre, and some were so bad that I swore that I’d never go to another - but they were all different.
The only band that really counts at all:
Rammstein: six times
as a side note, pezpunk. My “bad-ex-boyfriend” produced a couple of concerts for ALL way back in the day, when they were just starting out, so I saw them back then, too!
jarbaby
Stereolab - four times.
Kiss–5 times.
This is assuming we are indeed leaving out local cover/tribute bands, because there were a few that I must have seen 20 times, easy.
went to every show the Dead played in Las Vegas (8 i think, cant remember right now) damn good shows. this one year, it was cloudy and overcast and during bill’s drum solo, the sky opened up with rolling thunder and lightning. it was some of the best “special effects” i have ever seen, and they were provided by Momma Nature. i swear, it was like the drummer was summoning up the thunder. way cool
dave matthews- 28 times… wooohoo… i’m a big fan!
Bob Dylan and Neil Young, both six times, and Neil Young again with CSNY.
Warren Zevon (highly underrated) maybe 9 times. Lost count of Neil Young concerts. Saw Grateful Dead a time or two, but not as often as plnnr.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd–3 times. That’s it, including the local bands, none of which I recall seeing more than twice. Seems like it should be more than that, but I guess I’ve just seen a whole lot of different bands.
Queensryche: 3 times
Metallica: 3 times
Aerosmith: 3 times
Counting Crows: 2 times
Billy Joel: 2 times
Poison: 2 times
Winger: 2 times
White Lion: 2 times
Jackyl: 2 times
Pat Green - 6 times
Robert Earl Keen - 4 times
