What bands/artists do you own every album by?

Pink Floyd
Sisters of Mercy
Nena
The Wonder Stuff
Love and Rockets
Blue Oyster Cult
Alice Cooper (by the ‘era’ stipulation, all early-era and glam-era, not much of the metal revival era)

Many 2-3 album runs by short-lived groups

My sister used to date a guy who knew Zappa. So I asked him to ask Zappa for me exactly how many albums he had out. Zappa’s response was (and I’m quoting verbatim) “I don’t know.”

Boy, I got a lot of music, but the only “complete” collection is probably *Jimi Hendrix (and maybe a few “one record” nobodys, not worth mentioning). Jeff Buckley *only put out one full-length recording, but I think there is an EP floating around that I don’t have.

Hey,** DCnDC**! If you wanna “help me out” with a copy of the first* Jayhawks *record, that would make another for my list.

I’m only an album or two from* Rush, Wilco, Rancid, Rolling Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughn, ZZ Top* (gotta love the Six-Pack!) and a bunch of others.

I should get crackin’!

Only Alice Cooper.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Ludo. There may be others but I don’t listen to their stuff nearly as much. (I’ll admit it, I tend to buy the Greatest Hits CD and call it good.)

Quite a few. Off the top of my head … Depeche Mode, Erasure, VNV Nation, Mesh, Death Cab for Cutie, Iris, Anything Box, Color Theory … probably some more.

I like a lot of different music, including most of the bands listed here. But the only artist whose entire collection I ever owned was John Prine. And that was only up to the late 90’s. Sadly, they’re gone now.

This is not all of them, but the main ones I can think of off the top of my head:

Pink Floyd
Metallica
Alice in Chains
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Neil Young

And many others…

Surprisingly few, when I stopped to think about it.

Electric Light Orchestra
Asia

Queen and Yes come close, but I haven’t bought a few of the later albums by each o those bands.

The Who (including all of Pete’s solo stuff)
The Beatles
Fountains of Wayne

I have most but not all albums by a bunch of other bands…Floyd, Zep, Kinks, Stones, Deep Purple, Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, Niko Case, New Pornographers, Todd, BeBop Deluxe, Jeff Beck, Blue Oyster Cult, Steve Miller…

Garth Brooks
Dierks Bentley

I have all but the most recent Gary Allan CD.

Def Leppard

Billy Squier (but not the Piper days)

I have all of Yes that includes Jon Anderson (I also have Drama. I refuse to acknowledge the band that is currently calling itself Yes after treating Jon Anderson so shabbily)

Blind Faith.
mmm

I have every single song title Patsy Cline ever recorded, though not every version of every song. Especially since in the last couple of decades they’ve been remixing her old recordings with contemporary artists accompanying her.

I have most of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and lots of other stuff, but Patsy’s the only one I’ve consciously sought to collect comprehensively. I believe it’s 106 titles.

Much as I’d like to, I’m afraid I cannot violate copyright laws to help you out with that, but you can pick it up on Amazon for about 8 bucks (≈$5 + $3/shipping).

Here’s what I came up with:

The Beatles [not sure I have all the British versions, but I have most of them, and got all the Capitol American versions of the albums on cassette)
Daniel Amos
Fleetwood Mac if you only count the Buckingham/Nicks era
Fountains of Wayne
The Kinks
Lost Dogs
Madness
Chris Mars
Men at Work
The Moody Blues
The Alan Parsons Project (as such; I actually gave away one or two post-Project Parsons CDs)
The 77s
Something Fierce (the 80s Minnesota band)
The Swirling Eddies
They Might Be Giants (but only if you don’t count their children’s albums—which, really, you should)
Trip Shakespeare

I was surprised to see how many “near misses” I had, where I had many but not quite all the albums by an artist. For instance, there are a couple of late-70s Beach Boys albums that I’ve been avoiding.

Rush

Black Sabbath

Judas Priest

Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass

Herbie Hancock

Styx

Led Zeppelin

Just Garbage and Enya, for me. Honestly, my tastes are so what-the-hell-all-over-the-place that I’m kinda surprised I have more than two of any artist.

Only a very few that I can think of…

Guster (including the live album and both EPs)

The White Stripes (excluding the live album)

…and…

Creed (Shut up! I was 18 when Human Clay came out!)

None. I’m too picky. And I don’t have a completionist streak.
