  • a bunch of one-offs, solo stuff under my own name, jam gigs, unnamed bands and potential projects that went nowhere that I can’t remember the name of.

In middle school, two friends and I decided we’d be a group: Uniquely Exclusive. But we were destined to fail. I was the only one who could play an instrument, and one of my friends couldn’t carry a tune. The other girl and I wrote a couple of songs which weren’t too horrible for 14-y/o composers.

We did have publicity photos that the tone-deaf friend’s sister took, so there was that.

Our Testicles Touch the Ground
Mexican Power Authority
Crotch
Exploding Nimoy
Soy
Peruke
Champions of Hell
Beatles cover band (first called Doug, Brian and Justin Do the Beatles, then near the end changed to The Beasides when we became a four piece, oddly enough)
Repulverizer
Soy reunison

I remember a local band called “Free Beer”, when I was in college. Did you ever play southeastern North Carolina?

Jim Tench Band but nobody in the band was named Jim Tench

Can’t say that I did. We were mostly Louisville, KY area. Never made it further east than Wheeling, WV

Westminster West Middle school band (clarinet)
As a silk:
Westminster High School marching band
Frostburg State University Marching Band
Shenandoah Sound Drum and Bugle Corps
Navajo Prep Marching Band (marched and choreographed)

As a singer and autoharp player: Celtic Knot, an acoustic folk duo playing music of the British Isles and beyond… We haven’t had a lot of gigs since we moved to Indiana, but we’re still looking.

Growing up my sister and our two cousins had a garage band we called Sour Apple. We got along like Guns-n-Roses without the talent.

I have played bass in a couple bands. The best was Lug. We played grunge mostly inspired by Alice In Chains.

My favorite will always be The Redneck Mafia. We do a mix of metal and old school country. Basically rip off Hank III. We don’t play as much as we used to but it’s always fun.

The World’s Most Dangerous Polka Band
We played two gigs, in the high school gym for the talent show.

This and your avatar made me laugh!

The Partying Pearshapes

My sister played bass in Rick Allen’s Arm.

Well hey! A poster on my favorite message board was in the band that succeeded the band that recorded a song that I heard on the Doctor Demento show.

It’s a small world.

Closer to the topic, a relative of mine was in the short lived Long Beach group Lobster Boss.
