I really like these gray cats and would like to have one (one that preferably doesn’t make demonic sounds though). What cat breed is that?
Possibly a Russian Blue. Cats of the same color & with the same extra thick coat will occasionally show up in “regular” litters.
Not a serious Cat Fancier; more suggestions may arrive as the experts do…
I wondered what the title of that video meant. So I used Google Translate:
I could have guessed that!
The cats face seems too wide for a Russian Blue. It’s possibly a Chartreux, but more likely a British Shorthair.
It’s either a Russian Blue or a good look-a-like.
They’re supposedly pretty good cats as far as temperament go, but I have troubles wrapping my head (and budget) around the prices for purebred cats.
If you’re just looking for a grey cat with that general color and shape, let your local shelters and animal-care people know that you desperately want a grey kitty, and they’ll let you know when any come in. Eventually, you’ll hit one that looks like (and may actually BE) the breed you desire, without the huge pricetag (and some incidental good to a poor kitty in a shelter or a hospital with no family).
Course, that does mean waiting a bit for one to arrive.
You could also contact people in your area (very general term depending on the amount of people breeding and selling cats wherever you are) who breed Russian Blues and ask if they know of anywhere that you could get “retired” queens or toms for cheaper. After a few litters, reputable breeders usually fix the queens at least and then sell them for less, but the cats are older and sometimes haven’t lived a normal family life. It’s worth looking into, just for the contacts. Sometimes even accidents happen, like for me.
I got a free kitten from a mixed litter out of a Balinese cat. I had made contact with several people in the area with Balinese, asking them to let me know if they or anyone they knew ever had to get rid of any of their cats or retire their breeding cats. One of them contacted me eventually. Mommy cat apparently was overfond of outside, and escaped her honeymoon for a little bit. A while later, she had a bag of mixed-up kitties. However, inside that mixed litter was one all-white guy that could just be a white cat, or could be an actual Balinese (she had been bred just before she got out).
I took the chance on a free kitty (the owner didn’t feel comfortable selling ANY of them) and he turned out to be a beautiful blue-point Balinese. Stupid, but beautiful. I would have loved and kept him even if he turned out to be just a normal white cat, but I’m awfully glad my gamble paid off!
(And for all the breed-wars people out there, I’m not advocating or dissing breeding, just offering resources that may help the OP find the type of cat he wants.)
We had a solid grey kitty from a tabby cat litter. His sister was a grey-striped tabby, and he looked like a Russian Blue. His coat was absolutely gorgeous, and he was the sweetest-tempered cat we’d ever known. He was huge, too. Hubster and I had a joke: “What goes JUMP! STOMP! STOMP! STOMP! FLOP! PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!”
That was Silver jumping up to our bed at night, and flopping down at our feet to purr like a chainsaw.

That is one UNHAPPY cat…wow.
Oh, yeah, the cat in the youtube video was majorly pissed off! When a cat has his ears slicked back like he’s using an entire tube of Brylcream, you’ve got one mad cat!

There are plenty of stray and pet cats of this color, if not of this type, in my area. Check out the shelter in your area and you’ll likely find one.
As someone already said, it looks like a blue British Shorthairand not much else like most other purebred cats that come in that color. It seems to have the typical orange eyes, which are not usually seen in other purebred blue cats. It’s a cobby (thickset) cat with a round head, face and eyes and a short nose, none of which are Russian Blue characteristics. RBs are usually somewhat ‘Oriental’ in type (lanky, long noses, wide-set larger ears and almond eyes). Korats are another sort of purebred gray-blue cat - they have a compact but delicate build, round face with a characteristic expression, and smaller ears than RBs.
My random bred (I found her in the alley behind my apartment building as a kitten) blue-gray cat looks very much like a purebred Korat (and very little like most Russian Blues I have seen, and nothing at all like a gray-blue British Shorthair). This is one of my most favorite colors of cat, so beautiful, and as a bonus light gray fur blends in with most things I own. My Fairuza (her name means ‘blue’). She is a terrible bitch but I don’t think that’s typical for gray cats.
I think that cat is possessed…
We had a Russian Blue-looking cat for a long time. (Definitely not like the British version.)
Best Cat Evar!
Since we got her from a shelter, we don’t really know the breed for sure, but based on what we’ve read, these are generally really great cats. Ours loved strangers, which isn’t typical, so probably a mongrel of some sort possibly w/Russian Blue genes.
That is one FAT Russian Blue. We have two (both pound kitties). They are great cats, very affectionate - once they get to know you. Skittish around strangers though.
You’d be upset too, if people in the household were doing that all the time.
“Oh Long Johnson…Oh Don Piano…why, I eyes ya…all the livelong day.”
Wow, how old was he when his points show up? We had a seal point siamese kitten who had fully developed points when we got him at four months old, but I don’t have any experience with younger than that. I know they’re born white, but I kind of assumed that you could see the points by the time they were ready to leave their moms at eight weeks.
I had a Russian Blue . . . one of the best cat’s I ever had; very smart and sociable. Of course, I never walked around with a book on my head.
I just realized . . . that cat sounds just like my grandmother did, after she had her stroke.
Why is the book on head freaking the cat out?
It’s hard to tell what kind of cat it is, what with the swearing and posturing, and the fact that it’s really FAT.
