Welcome, Chazzy!

Let me explain…no, there is too much. Let me sum up.

For the last 13-odd years, we’ve had a trio of cats, a faded calico, a gray tabby and a little black cat. The calico and tabby were actual littermates, but the three had lived together here for so long that they were, for all intents and purposes, actual sisters. We lost the gray tabby of a diabetes-induced stroke about six months ago, and had to cushion the pains and delibitations of simple old age of the black one about three months ago. The calico (Scraps, whom I have no pics of on this computer at all) has spent those three months searching around the house, crying for the other two, and being very affectionate with us. We wanted to get her a new companion, someone for her to spend time with instead of alone.

So today, we went to the Humane League and found a very friendly and beautiful elder kitty named Chazzy to bring home for good. He and Scraps aren’t quite to the best-of-friends stage though. Scraps hasn’t stayed in the same room with him for more than a couple of minutes yet, but we expect that will change eventually.

Chazzy is about the most chill cat I’ve ever met. He came right out of the cardboard carrier and started exploring the whole house, strange cat, strange dog, strange place, strange people and all.

And yes, I do remember the most important rule of pet threads.

Chazzy

Look at the handsome on that kitty!

Cute!

Oh, that good-looking beastie is planning something, mark my words!

Good for you, jayjay–can you say, “Dyn-O-Mite”?

He is, for sure. When we start getting better pics of him, you’ll see he has the most beautiful yellow-green eyes. They’re one reason I kind of think he’s part Russian Blue or Chartreux or Korat. He’s darker than individuals of that particular group usually are, though. His paperwork just says he’s a Domestic Shorthair, but that’s not always accurate.

Good for you! Welcome Chazzy.

Welcome to the new cute boy!

Kitteh!!!

May Bast mark you as one of her own for taking in an elder kitty.

What a good looking boy! How many cat years does he have?

May you have him for as long as you wish.

According to a converter I found online, about 73. We may not have him long, but we’re going to make them good years for him.

It was very much a deliberate decision. There are so many older cats in shelters that nobody wants because they’re looking for cute kittens.

I’m so glad a senior kitty got a good home. What a lovely boy. At least Scraps has a distraction from her grief even if she’s not buddies with him yet. That she’s not throwing a literal hissy fit is a very good sign! Please keep us updated!
