What can I do with kiwi fruit?

I’ve got seven kiwi fruits at home and I have no idea what to do with them. Obviously I could just peel them and eat them, but that’s not very exciting. I’ve got enough to make something, I just don’t know what to make.

Anybody got a favourite kiwi fruit recipe?

I’ve seen them in fruit salads, sometimes. I’ve also seen sliced kiwis used as a very attractive garnish on cakes, pastries, and such, pretty much anywhere that strawberries are used.

Don’t the feathers tend to be a bit messy? Or do you pluck them before slicing?

I’m a freak in that I like the kiwi fruit skin. I eat them whole like a peach.

On top of pavlova.

Si

Dammit, that’s what I was going to say! :stuck_out_tongue:

I do that too, but I prefer to shave them before consumption. But the bitter skin is a nice counterpoint to the sweet flesh.

Peel them? Why not simply cut them in half (horizontally, not vertically) and dig in with a teaspoon?

I knew a kid in highschool that packed a kiwi everyday in his lunch and he would eat them by jamming a straw into it and sucking out the insides. Could try that?

That’s one of the three Approved Ways™ to eat Kiwifruit. On top of Pavlova and in a Fruit Salad are the other two, BTW.

And for the record, a “Kiwi” is either a small, flightless bird found only in NZ, or a nickname for NZers in general. The fruit is a “Kiwifruit”, not a “Kiwi”.

I love to sit in public and eat a kiwi fruit, skin and all. It’s worth it just to see people’s “Ewwww, gross” reactions.

I would not call it “gross”, but i really don’t like eating skin that’s so furry.

But add me to those saying that kiwifruit is an ideal element in a pavlova – a delight which is hardly known in this country.
