When I resize photos using Ulead Photo Express, the end result always comes out with a white border on the bottom and right-hand side of the resized image. What am I doing wrong (if by this information a diagnosis is available)? I wish the resized photo to be, naturally, without border of any kind. Is this a common disorder?
The problem is that standard photo paper sizes do not have the same aspect ratios. Here are typical sizes that you find:
4x6 (1.5:1)
5x7 (1.4:1)
8x10 (1.25:1)
11x14 (1.27:1)
16x20 (1.25:1)
Because these papers all have different shapes, the rectangle of your image will not scale up to fit without changing the proportions. The solution is either to crop the image (blow it up bigger than the paper, causing part of it to be cut off) or to leave white space around the image, so you get the entire image on the paper. Proper scaling should leave an even border all around, though, not just on two sides.
