What Causes Pearly Penile Papules?

I am perplexed as to the purpose of Pearly Penile Papules- the phenomena of pinkish-purplish protuberances that proliferate around the perimeter of the penis.

What causes these papules? Why is it that some men have these while others do not??

Does inadequate hygiene play any role in their development?

Thanks.

I have no clue what you’re talking about, having never heard of these before, but I wanted to express my appreciation for the adept alliteration of your opening post.

Could be molluscum contagiosum. See your doc.

Once again, I’m sure there’s a joke buried in our OP’s Location tag.

Am I the only one channeling classic Opus?

“Pear Pimples for Hairy Fishnuts!”

Despite the allitertation, they’re almost always found around the corona, not strictly the “perimeter” of the penis. They are somewhat more common in uncut men; about 20% of men overall have them. The reason for their development is not determined. They are harmless and noncommunicable. However, if you have developed bumps on your penis, see a doctor to make sure it is not something that should be treated.

Sounds like Peter Piper’s Syndrome, also known as pickled pecker.
