Yay! Brandon Bird shout out!
And there’s nothing like meeting an actor to make you appreciate a good screenwriter.

Just hang out with (as opposed to screw)?:
Jon Stewart (he’s smart, articulate and funny)
Bono (he’s quite the ambassador)
Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York (who wouldn’t want to dish about the royals?)
Ellen DeGeneres (she’s down to earth and funny)
Jay Leno (ditto)
Tony Blair (he intrigues me)
Jimmy Buffet (we could go to Margaritaville together)
Either Bruce Willis or Jon Stewart. Both seem like pretty chill dudes.
I know one I would not want to hang with is Sylvester Stallone. A friend of mine in the industry says he’s a royal prick.
Do really long-dead celebrities count? Because I would love to meet Ben Jonson – brilliant, witty, and a fountain of gossip about the seventeenth-century literary world.
If we’re restricted to living people, J. K. Rowling seems like she’s pretty cool.
TV-Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert, Peter Jennings (dead).
Music-Jon Lennon (dead); YoYo Ma, Bette Midler seems interesting.
Movies-Colin Firth, Donald Sutherland, William Hurt, Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, .
Authors-Mary Stewart (not sure she’s still alive), Josephine Tey (dead), Bill Bryson, Ruth Rendell, James Thurber (dead).
The Edge, from U2
And Hugh Laurie, renaissance man–actor, novelist, singer, player of guitar and keyboard.
Movies: ** Maggie Cheung**. She’s been in so many, just about every genre. She seems like a totally cool gal. I’d love to talk with her about her roles.
TV: Hmmm; I don’t watch TV except for sports, so, Ryne Sandberg? For all I know he might be boring as hell, but he was always my favorite player.
Music: Hank Williams, Jr. I think he would be very interesting to hang out with. (If he wasn’t availalbe, I’d go with Jimmy Buffett
Some others have added authors. Stephen King, hands down winner for this category.
Movies: Sean Bean.
TV: The fuckers writing Lost. Just so I can beat them over the head until they give me answers.
Music: Liam Gallagher.
i r dum.
Should Liam turn me down, I want a date with Mr. Johnson for details regarding the crossroads.
Weird Al. His knowledge of pop culture and sense of humor would make him a good guy to hang out with.
Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. I would really like to play them some new music that doesn’t suck. (Do you think Bob Dylan listens to Kings of Leon?)
Stephen Malkmus of Pavement. He seems to be a very quirky and good-natured guy.
Tom Cruise (I would love to actually talk to him about scientology as opposed to just hearing and reading overblown gossip about him.)
R. Crumb (I could talk about his comics for hours, but I think that would bore him, so I’d rather talk about music with him.)
Vincent Gallo. Artist, post-rock musician, actor, motorcycle racer, and all around interesting guy. Despite his bizarre public persona, he’s a pretty friendly and down to earth guy from everything I’ve read.
Danny Trejo. He sounds like he’d have some interesting stories to tell.
You guys can come hang out with us! (see my first post in this thread)
Beck and Tom Waits - together. I’m sure I’d learn a LOT about music.
Movies: Rachel Weisz - I have seen her interviewed twice and she is the only “personality” that I have ever seen whose manner made me think, “Wow, I’d like to meet her.”
Music: Jerry Lee Lewis - he’d have a few stories to tell and he likes a drink. We could just find a quiet bar with a piano.
TV: Ricky Gervais - I recently saw, on the same night, the DVDs of* Animals* and Politics, his two live shows. I laughed until I thought I was going to die. Three days later I was visiting family and my nephews were watching the same DVDs. I sat down to watch with them and I laughed until I thought I was going to die.
David Duchovny
Samuel L. Jackson
Jack Nicholson
TV: Larry David. He was the first one that came to mind from any category. I would do my best to get the guy into awkward situations.
Movie: Jack Nicholson. I just get the feeling that he’s similar to his character in The Departed, probably just hangs out with tons of hotties and throws coke in their face on occasions.
Music: Frank Sinatra. Has an aura to him that commands the full attention of the room.
Sports: Reggie Bush. In case he needs someone to grovel at his feet and drop rosepedals behind wherever he walks.
A few of the people I reckon would be really cool to hang out with (in no particular order):
Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Jason Lee, Harrison Ford, Kari Byron, Paget Brewster, Jerry Holkins, Mike Krahulik, Matt Stone, Trey Parker, Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Queen Elizabeth II, Seth MacFarlane, Weird Al Yankovic, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Ron Jeremy, Katey Sagal, Geoffrey Rush, and William H. Macy.
Hell, yeah. I have a feeling this would result in a 3 day hangover, but it’d be worth it. We should add Lemmy Kilmeister to the mix while we’re at it.
Movies… Chuck Yeager
TV… Shandi Finnessy or Olivia Munn
Music… Rob Halford
Matt Dillon, because he likes Cambodia, and I think we could have a good time bar-hopping in Phnom Penh.
