What celeb would you want to hang out with?

Movies: Kevin Kline, among other things to thank him for his part in reintroducing me to the works of Gilbert and Sullivan.

TV: Kari Byron, just because I’d want to talk about stuff the Mythbusters do.

Music: Peter Schickele - in part to find out how he feels about being more well-known for his spoof and self-spoof works than his more serious work.

And everybody else in the restaurant would leave you alone!

“When you dine with Machete, you dine ALONE.”

I don’t know about “hanging out with,” but the Ultimate Dinner Party would include:

Already Named That I Totally Agree With, in Alphabetical Order:

Tony Blair
Bruce Campbell
George Clooney
Stephen Colbert
John Cusack
Hugh Laurie
J. K. Rowling
Kevin Spacey
Jon Stewart
Kate Winslet

And Others That I Came Up With, in Alphabetical Order:

Joshua Bell
Cate Blanchett
Kenneth Branagh (don’t seat him near Emma Thompson, though)
Ken Burns (the documentary guy)
Bill Clinton (but Hillary can’t come with)
Bob Costas
Stephen Fry
somebody from Pixar (would Brad Bird be too squirrelly? maybe John Lasseter)
one of the Pythons (except maybe Terry Gilliam – he’s kinda Johnny Depp “brilliant, but uncooperatively weird” to me)
Emma Thompson (don’t seat her near Branagh, though)

Dead:

Shelby Foote
Clark Gable
Charles Dickens

Thanks for the link - that is some funky shit.

Well, I don’t want to be intimately involved in this conversation, but I sure as hell would like to be watching it from a close distance - John Cleese and Hugh Laurie.

I would like to hang out with Sandra Bullock. I saw her on Jon Stewart (heh), and I don’t think she did a very good job of hiding what seems to be a witty, smart, clued-in personality.

I would also like to hang out with Keanu Reeves, partially because I just want to stare at him, and partially because he is a fairly reticent star, and I would like to know if that is because he’s a complete dim bulb, or if he is smart enough to know to avoid the star-machine.

Music? I don’t care for musicians. Which I guess isn’t completely fair, because I suppose they are no more horrible than actors. Okay, let’s see - oh, Jann Arden. I think we’d have a lot of fun hanging out.

I saw her first. Pistols at dawn!

Movies: Even though I got to appreciate her via TV, she did at least one movie so I can still meet Claudia Black too

Authors: Richard Dawkins, not only is he smart, acerbic, he was also a close friend of Douglas Adams, kinda like two birds with one stone.

I have to add that if you don’t know who Munn is, watch Attack of the Show on G4Tech TV, now. today. She is wearing the nicest outfit I think I have ever seen her in…

ETA: I have no idea what Dawkins is wearing today…

zombie james brown

She’s hot, smart, a geek, witty…I’m surprised there’s not a shrine to her here.

But back off, bucko!

(And that’s the reason I also picked Shandi. She has a degree, published childrens books, and is a pretty decent pianist. Oh, and smokin’. Not your everyday airhead blonde, but she can play that, too.)

She is all that and more

I would gladly share with you, but Mrs. Prefect and I are already sharing the Munn and three’s a crowd… Well, in your case, four is a crowd

I was going to set up a thread to her honour here a week or two ago, but didn’t want to do the image search at work

AOTS comes on later here, so I’m watching it now. Thanks for the heads-up. And I concur. Damn. Damn.

TV: Any of the three regulars of “Whose Line is it Anyway:” Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie, and/or Ryan Stiles. Probably some of the fastest-thinking people alive today. One at a time rather than as a group; I’d love to know how decades of improv comedy have warped their minds.

Movie: Can’t think of one. They all seem so arrogant.
TV: Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert
Music: Roger Waters

I heard from a trusted source that he is a pretentious prick. If you want someone cool from that band try Bob.

Movies: Peter O’Toole and Kevin Spacey - They’d be the most entertaining. For education, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. Also, I would mind a dinner with Ahnold. He’s a very bright man. George Clooney, Hugh Grant, Sean Connery, and Harrison Ford for the sheer lust factor.
Directors: Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese (sp?)
Writers: Stephen King and Aaron Sorkin, hands down. David Weber and Eric Flint next.
TV: Jon Stewart. Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is it anyway) - second choice would be Wayne Brady, but he’d have to sing for his supper. He’s just amazing.

Oddly, I’d like to have dinner with Michael Jackson and find out what’s going on there.

Dead: Jane Austen, Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Elizabeth I of England.

Movies- James Garner A real regular guy. I heard once (back in the late 60s) that he used to go hang out at a local auto parts house cause they did not treat him like a star.

TV Harry Anderson. I knew a guy that had dinner with him and Reinhold Weege. He told me he was laughing so hard, he thought he was in danger of passing out from lack of Oxygen.

Music 3 way tie. Weird Al, for obvious reasons. Dolly Parton as she seems like a hoot to talk to. Last Jimmy Buffet his is living my dream.

Dead: I completely forgot both Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde!

I almost said her name

Robin Williams.
Ditto on Wayne. Colin & Ryan.
Tom Hanks.
Oprah Winfrey

Linda Ronstadt – she’s just fun to talk to and very down to earth
Jon Stewart – smart, funny, and seems to share a lot of my views
Weird Al – hey, who wouldn’t? Plus his daughter was born on my birthday, so it’s fate, man…fate
Laurie Anderson – she just seems like she’d be fun to hang with
Sinead O’Connor – I think I could relate to her
Hugh Laurie and Rowan Atkinson – they just seem like they’d be so much fun
Like featherlou, I think Sandra Bullock seems like she’d be fun, as does Geena Davis.
