What chick flicks are also good movies?

Larry Borgia:

Don’t let the “avant garde” sorts on this board lead you to think Titanic was not critically acclaimed. The critics loved Titanic, it has a “Fresh” rating of 82% on RottenTomatoes.com. But there will always be those who will turn up their nose at anything wildly popular, and this message board has an overabundance of such.

THIS…IS…A CHICK FLICK!!!

I think it’s actually 500 Days of Summer.

Does Juno or **Nick & Nora’s Infinite Playlist **count as chick flicks?

P.S. I Love You
27 Dresses

Agreed. And it’s one of the very few movies I consider to be better than the books on which they’re based.

Also seconded - Love Actually, Shakespeare in Love, Chocolat, Amelie, Notting Hill. All fantastic movies that I’ll stop and watch when I see them on tv, even though my wife and I own the DVDs.

A Very Long Engagement is good, not completely a chick flick but in the neighbourhood.

I’m a sucker for Bridget Jones Diary and About a Boy.

Anything by Pedro Almodóvar. My favorites are Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down, What Have I Done to Deserve This, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, All About My Mother . . . just about all of his films.

Also, a romantic comedy that rarely gets mentioned in romantic comedy threads-- Fools Rush In.

Seconding Bella, which was wonderful, and also voting for The Joy Luck Club and Sense and Sensibility.

From another thread: A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN.
