Just what the thread title says. I’ll chime in with my own later.
I personally own Christmas albums by;
- Twisted Sister
- Bob Dylan
- Taylor Swift
- Justin Bieber (courtesy of VogueVixen, of course)
- The Killers
- The Fab Four
Brian Setzer Orchestra - his stuff is ths best. He has several; I think ours is this one:
Off the top of my head…Sarah McLaughlin, Bruce Coburn, Vince Guaraldi. The rest are choirs singing classics, Handel’s Messiah etc
Some of the ones my wife and I own:
- Brian Setzer Orchestra - Boogie Woogie Christmas
- John Denver and the Muppets
- A couple of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas albums
- Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve and Other Stories
- Virgil Fox Christmas album (organ)
- Celtic Carols (violin and uileann pipes/bagpipes)
- Alligator Records Christmas album (blues)
- Harry Connick Jr (probably my wife’s favorite)
A couple of my personal favorites:
Hot Rod Holiday - a collection released by Hot Rod magazine with a bunch of Christmas songs by 50’s and 60’s artists (Beach Boys, Dion, The Ventures, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, etc.)
Christmas Guitars - this may have been the first Christmas CD I ever bought. It was a benefit for the National Coalition for the Homeless and is instrumental versions of christmas songs by a wide variety of rock, blues and jazz guitarists.
Bad Religion - Christmas Songs
Barenaked Ladies - Barenaked for the Holidays
Christopher Lee - A Heavy Metal Christmas (2-song ‘EP’)
Reverend Horton Heat - We Three Kings: Christmas Favorites
Various - A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! (Stephen Colbert, John Legend, Willie Nelson, Feist, Elvis Costello, Jon Stewart, etc.)
Vince Guaraldi Trio - A Charlie Brown Christmas
Edit: And I was sure I had the Brian Setzer Orchestra’s album, but I don’t see it in my list.
The Phil Spector Christmas Album is all I need.
Merle Haggard’s Christmas Present LP
Elvis original with all the pages inside LP
The Most Fabulous Christmas Album Ever
And of course…
Quality Street: A Seasonal Selection For All The Family

Most listened to
Nat King Cole

SalSoul Orchestra
A Charlie Brown Christmas Soundtrack
A Christmas Together–John Denver And The Muppets
Merry Christmas–Johnny Mathis
White Christmas–Bing Crosby
The Nutcracker
The First Nowell–A chamber orchestra and chorus performing Old English carols, everything from better-known ones (O Little Town, God Rest Ye Merry) to more obscure stuff from England’s past (The Friendly Beasts, On Christmas Night)
Two Chipmunk Christmas albums
Rudolph, Frosty, and Friends (songs from Rankin/Bass shows)
A Christmas Story–original Broadway cast from the musical (It’s really good!)
A Canadian Brass Christmas album
To say nothing of my playlist which is mostly stuff that doesn’t get a whole lot of airplay (Pavarotti’s rendition of Gesu Bambino, Peter, Paul and Mary’s “A-Soalin”.)
I am gonna buy Rudolpf, Frosty And Friends right now!
It’s out of print, but you can get a used copy on Amazon for around the same price as a regular, new CD.
These are the ones I can think of; I may be forgetting some:
Jon Anderson - Three Ships
The Beatles - Christmas Album (counterfeit)
Bob Dylan - Christmas in the Heart
Keith Emerson - The Christmas Album
Horslips - Drive the Cold Winter Away
Jethro Tull - Christmas Album
The Roches - We Three Kings
Various - Blue Christmas
Various - Christmas Guitars
Music Box Christmas
I have an album of Québécois Christmas music, and I have Jonathan Coulton and John Roderick’s “One Christmas at a Time.”
All the other Christmas music I have is individual songs downloaded here and there. Mostly, though, I just put the radio to a Christmas station and listen to that when I want to get into the spirit.
Beatles Xmas Album
The Fab Four: Hark!
Nick Lowe’s Quality Street: A Seasonal Selection For All The Family
Merry Axemas I
Merry Axemas II
The December People: Rattle and Humbug
A John Waters Xmas
Elvis’ Xmas Album
The Ventures’ Xmas Album
OK, I just had to look up A John Waters Christmas; it looks great, I think I’m going to order a copy.
The only Christmas album I have is Jingle All The Way by Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. It features a version of Jingle Bells with Tuvan throat singers and a version of The 12 Days of Christmas with each day performed in a different key and a different time signature- and they make it work.
Several of the hilarious KROQ ones, though I haven’t bought any since I moved away from L.A. These are the ones I have on iTunes:
[ul][li]Swallow My Eggnog[/li][li]A Family Christmas In Your Ass[/ul][/li]A Very Special Christmas volumes 1, 2, & 3.
The Yobs Christmas Album
Fear, Fuck Christmas
The Vandals Oi To The World
I don’t own any. What I do have is a 28 hour long playlist on Rhapsody. Does that count for anything? Been adding to the list for years! So much new stuff comes out, I’d be in the poor house if I bought it all.
My favorites in frequent play right now are Pentatonix, The Piano Guys, Annie Lennox, Erasure, and Jewel.
Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra’s Christmas albums are my favorites. I love the traditional Christmas carols.
